Now Carden is into the game, and so is Hugh, who's now broken a sweat, but Carden still hasn't.
"Oh, nothing really, parents aren't gonna be around this weekend, so that'll be fun" Anne says into the phone.
"Oh, where are they going?" I ask.
"Nowhere really" she says, obviously only caring about how they get the house to themselves for the weekend.
"Cool, you doing good in school?" I ask.
"Meh" is her response to that.
"Did I tell you that I let an oven catch fire in my cooking class?" I ask.
"Really?! Oh my god Eva" she says.
"Yeah" I say.
"So you aren't home right now huh?" She asks.
"Nope" I say "apparently I must go swimming when I do get there though"
"Oooh" she says, "you have a pool?"
"Yeah" I say.
"Do you wanna talk to Tom?" She asks.
"No, I'm fine" I say.
"You guys really have nothing in common anyway" she says "but how about guys at your school, or house? How's that?"
"It's... Normal" I say.
"Normal? It looks like there's a lot of guys who like you" she says.
"They're just friends, they can't like me, most of them can't apparently" I say.
"Why not?" She asks.
"They must have girlfriends or something" I say, coming up with something.
"Meh" she says.
"Meh to you too" I say to her.
"At least you get along with your housemates though" she says.
"Yeah" I glance up as Carden scores a point.
Hugh falls to his knees and looks up at the sky, clenching his fists and screaming out 'why' as Carden laughs and jogs over to me.
