Nate sits beside my hospital bed playing cards with me. It's been two days now and Hayden hasn't woken up. Lilly is devestated. I personally don't understand why he tried to help, I almost felt good that he was injured, but I don't want him to die. The police told us that a friend of ours called which is how they found us. And Penny has been around to tell us that it was her. She burst into tears when she saw me, she was sorry, she felt responsible, like she could've done more. I hated that, I didn't want her to feel like that. She did so much even though she barely knew me.

Carden won't see me.

"Have you got a two?" I ask.

"Do you think I have a two?" He says.

"Give me the two" I demand and he places a card down on the bed.

"Thank you" I say.

"Are you sure you don't want to do something else? This is getting boring" he says.

"Im wanting to shoot every one of you that asks 'are you okay?' Because do you think I'm okay? Because I'm not"

"Well..." he trails off "look on the bright side"

"What bright side?" I ask.

"He's dead" he says "and you're alive"

"Yeah, barely" I say "plus, when you compare that with all of the bad things, the bad outweighs the good"

"I know, I'm just trying to help" he says.

"I know, but I'm grouchy and I just want to complain but everyone wants me to calm down and to try and be happy instead of letting me rant" I ramble "my mum is dead, she isn't here, Heartigan singlehandedly ruined my life, literally my body began to shut down, then he tried to kill me, at the same time as this, I started liking a guy and feeling insecure and then I find out by some cosmic coincidence he likes me back and what's happened now? He won't talk to me because he's disgusted by me, he's angry I didn't tell him sooner"

"Eva, I'm sure that's not it" Nate says.

"What else?" I ask "I just... want to go back home"

"If that's what you want then it can probably be arranged" I throw my head up out of the gutter and look at him in surprise.
