So. We didn't end up making a cake like people usually would. We made 3 cakes. Then we made them into a 3 layered cake. No effort was wasted so at least that's good. Though I don't know if I want to eat it, I don't exactly feel like cake anymore. It's beautiful, covered in chocolate frosting that looks perfectly messy and just perfect. But I don't know if I'm hungry for it. I am and I'm not.

"Well, that's it!" Selene says as she pulls off her rubber gloves and I finish drying the last bowl.

We had been doing the dishes afterward, something that I remember when I was a child, my mother got mad at me for not doing after cooking. Sometimes my father would bake and I would help and then she'd get mad at us for not cleaning up afterward. But Dad would give her a kiss and the spatula with cake mix or frosting and she'd get over it pretty soon.

"Yeah" I say as I look up to the clock "it's already one o'clock"

"Time flies,  thanks for helping me out Eva" she says as she puts a hand on my shoulder, smiling.

"No problem" I smile sweetly back at her.

"Well, if you wouldn't mind, could you go ask the boys if they want anything? They'll be upstairs somewhere" she asks me.

I do mind. Theres a guy up there that hates me.

"No,  it's fine" I say and go upstairs.

I look around for them, I know there is a living area up here somewhere because I passed it before. I hear some noise of what sounds like a TV and go towards it until I find the very room I was looking for.

But only one of the boys is there.

"Grayson, where's Carden?" I ask.

"He went to his guest room, he has a stash there" he says to me and I cringe at what I think he is saying.

"Um, do you want some cake?" I ask, trying to disregard what he said.

"Yeah, I'll have some" he says, smiling at me.

"What about Carden?" I ask.

"He'll be fine, he isn't really into eating sweet looking things, unless it's-"

Knowing what he's going to say I cut him off "yeah, I know, so he doesn't want cake?"

"Nah" he says, grinning and going back to his video game.

These vampires, they all are so inappropriate. So inconsiderate. So aggravating.  They don't think about what they're saying before they say it. They should know some people are uncomfortable talking about these things. So inconsiderate.

"So do they want cake?" I look up at Selene, who's sitting at the bench, Eating cake, interrupting my thoughts.

Why can't they all be like Selene?

"Uh, just Grayson" I say and walk over to the bench to cut out a piece for him.

"Don't worry about what he jokes about, he's just having a little fun with you" she smiles at me and I try to smile back.

I wish he could joke about something normal.

"How did you know he had-"

"I have a heightened sense of hearing" she says.

"Really?" I ask.

"No not really, it's just a motherly instinct" she says smiling.

"Oh, okay then" I say, smiling for a brief moment before turning and going upstairs.

I make my way back to where I had found Grayson and smile when I see Carden is still away.

"Ooh, chocolate cake" he jumps up from his couch and meets me halfway "thanks"
