Toby's POV:

*a week later*

Spencer's parents are getting food in the cafeteria and I'm just sitting here holding Spencer's hand. I wish there was something that I could do to make her open her eyes. I never leave her room, I mean never, the other girls bring me food and they brought Spencer to a private room that has a couch so I sleep on that...well that is on the rare occasion I can actually fall asleep. I've been told by everyone to go back to the hotel and sleep but I can't, whenever I close my eyes I see Spencer on the floor covered in blood and bruises. I can't help but feel responsible, like if I had been there instead of in that book store I could have been there to protect her, but I wasn't and now she's lying there unconscious fighting for her life. If I could I would switch places with her in a heartbeat. I start to talk to her again, saying "Spencer please wake up. I need to see your big brown eyes and your beautiful smile..." My voice cracks as I say, "PLEASE, Spencer, wake up!" After again getting no response I gently kiss her on the lips. As I sit back down and hang my head while tears start streaming down my face I hear the sweet, musical voice I've been waiting to hear for a week say my name "Toby?"
