Chapter 38

When I made contact with the door handles, Its like i could feel the pain and the suffering they all went through. Sucking all the surrounding air, I managed to open the frosted door and saw Emily struggling to stand up. "What are you doing?! you could just stay put you know." I told her as I grabbed her torso to keep her upright. "m-must tell them. Karen" I turned to look at her. "who's this Karen-" I couldn't finish. Well, shocked is an understatement because I never saw her cry like ever. Not when she came inside Alpha Point. I never did so right now I'm like gawking at her.

"Emily-" I started when she suddenly broke down. "I- I can't save her. I can't save one single sweet little girl. I- I" she started to stammer and noticed the change of her breathing pattern. I took her hand, gave it a small squeeze as I grab the steamed warm blankets and draped it on her. "Calm down. Calm down. Breath, You're alive. Got it? she wanted you to live because she knows her limit. Just calm down Emily." I found myself saying. If your shocked, well so am I. well, let's be shocked together.

As I continued to calm her down, I noticed that her breathing became shallow and I know that she fell asleep. As I tried to move her and place her on to the wheel chair, I noticed that her hands aren't warm. The blanket didn't work. Quickly as I can, I dashed towards the infirmary, where I was greeted by Christian bringing a defibrillator. No! why would he need that?! who needs an electric shock?!  "Emily! quickly! take her inside! set the incubator! we need to warm her up NOW!" Christian said with intense authority. 

15 minutes

I've been waiting outside for 15 minutes and still, Christian is running around bossing everyone. "Well, I should have known. Miss Carbonell and her best friends are usually the rebellious type." Doctor Tundra's voice sound hallow to me as he stood staring outside with me. "Oh, I see, you are also cross with me Sebastian. Well, I would like to let you know that the data collection was a success." he stopped for effect. What?! was he expecting me to jump out saying yaay! hurray! almost all of our new friends are dead because of you! Hell no. 

"Also, I would like to tell you that, I believe Oliver is also cross with me. He wouldn't let me in and he wouldn't talk to anyone. Well, I just wished you could convince him to come out for breakfast" and out he went reporting things. I don't care about his data and research but I care for my brother. With a glance inside the emergency room, I dashed towards my brother's room.

"Olly? its me. Sebastian." I said as I got to his door making soft knocks. "Sorry, Olly doesn't want to talk to you. Bye" his voice in a monotone said. "come on buddy. I'm sorry." I whispered. Yeah I know too chessy but I already made a rule to myself. the world could hate me but never my brother. So once again, I knocked like Anna in Frozen. "I don't want to build a snow man!" he shouted from the inside. I laughed. "Come on buddy. I really am. I didn't want to do it honest. Tundra pushed Christian and I to do it" I said leaning on the door. Suddenly, I heard the knob unlock. "You sure?" he asked peeking. "Yeah. 100" 

"Can I see them?" he asked as we made our way to the dining hall. "Yeah, when they stabilize." I reasoned. "Well, they will be in no time. They are the strongest people I know." he said as he munched on his cereal and fruits. "Yeah they are." After eating breakfast, we found ourselves marching towards the infirmary when Christian came out throwing away his surgical mask revealing a relieved grin. 

"The others are starting to stabilize. Rose and the others are still under process but they're fine." he said. Oliver gave me a I told you so look. Okay that helped my nervous heart. "Can we see them?" Oliver asked. "Yeah sure, but be very quite. They need all the rest they can get." Christian said giving us a nod. "Come on buddy." I told him and pushed him inside. When we got inside to check on the others, he would stay for about 15 minutes or so and tell me everything about them like how Noreen loved logical games, how Shela managed to be the banker before the running started and how "awesome" they all are. Finally, we got to Emily's room which is farther away from the others since her room radiated heat.

"Emily!" Oliver announced not even bothered by the increase of heat. I also entered her room when I noticed that her heart rate is still regulated, tanks of oxygen were piled up beside the monitor and a huge bandage on her chest. "Did she get shot?" Oliver suddenly asked when Christian decided to pay a visit and drop an answer. "Yes. Mysteriously yes." I was about to ask another question when the meeting bell rang. Pissed, I pushed Oliver outside. "Go on first buddy, I'll be quick" nodding, he ran towards Christian.

"I know your awake." I told her. Suddenly, her eyes fluttered revealing beautiful orbs. "Where?" she asked. "Your back. " I announced. "Thank you" she replied making me dumbfounded. okay I wasn't expecting that. I leaned in and touched her forehead. " you caused a lot of ruckus dimwit" I said smiling. new nickname. " Wasn't my fault pokey!" she said giving me a scowl. I laughed way hard. Well, I was expecting some kind of weak Emily but I forgot, weak isn't really in her vocabulary.

"Good to have you back Smarty Pants" I told her. yeah, i'm being honest. shut up she stared at me before laughing really hard. "I'm glad to be alive. Thanks Sebastian. I owe you big time" she said. "Next time, learn how to breath yourself dimwit. Because your alive" I said and waved her a goodbye.
