Chapter 5 - Awkward.

He nudged her and smiled and she blushed.

Florence sat drinking a bottle of water whilst the guys were reviewing what they’d do in the music video; she wasn’t really paying attention and struck up a conversation with a guy she thought was a cameraman.

“So what do you do?” She asked.

“I film them.”

“I thought you were a camera man, I can just tell.”

“How?”

“Well you have headphones around your neck and before I saw you fixing a digital camera for some other person.”

“You’re very observant.”

“Thanks for observing that.” She smirked.

“So you a girlfriend?”

“Pardon.”

“You any of their girlfriends?”

“Oh no, I’m just a friend, or worker or both.”

“I see, I’m Sam.”

“Florence.”

“Nice to meet you.” He held out his hand and she shook it.

“And you.”

“I have to go now but see you around.”

“Yeah.” Florence smiled, and then she turned to glance at Dan who was staring at her.

He looked slightly uneasy. After, he came over to her.

“Who was he?”

“His name was Sam, he’s a cameraman.”

“Really? Sounds nice.”

“He is, and why are we having this conversation?”

“I just think you can do a lot better.”

“I doubt that highly.”

“I think you deserve more than him, like ...”

“What like you?” Florence knew this would make an awkward silence but she said it anyway just in case he answered.

“Well, anyone, someone who deserves you.” He said holding his hands.

Florence looked sympathetically at him, she wanted to tell him how she felt about him, about her abusive boyfriend, about how much she wanted to be in his arms all day, she didn’t deserve him, let alone him deserving her.

A tear ran down her cheek and she tried to hide her face but Dan noticed.

“I’m sorry if I have…”

“I’m fine Daniel; as long as that someone is near I’ll be fine.” She smirked.

Dan was slightly puzzled as he watched her walk off.
