The door slammed shut.
Dan looked at Florence, she was looking away.
She was sobbing but she didn’t want Dan to see.
“Florence, are you okay?” He asked nervously.
“I’m fine.” She said but it was clear by her voice she wasn’t.
He walked slowly towards her.
“I’m sorry.”
“I know.” She replied slowly.
They were silent.
“Florence, please look at me.” Dan said with tears in his eyes.
She turned her head and looked in his eyes.
Her eyes were red.
“I’d never hurt you, you know that.”
“Do I?”
“I was going to hit her.”
“Dan you need to control yourself.”
“She in…”
“I know she insulted me, but I wouldn’t have hit her, I would have insulted her.”
“I’m, I said I’m sorry.”
“I know, it’s just I’ve never seen you angry before. It kind of startled me.”
He put his hands on her cheeks and stared deep into her eyes.
“I haven’t had any time to say any of this but, Florence, I’ve missed you, even more than Kyle or anyone can ever imagine, I wanted to see you but I had this idea that you wouldn’t want to see me and I dreamt of us getting married still but I guess with all this that probably won’t happen. I was the reason you came back and it’s my fault we’re in this mess.”
She slapped him. “You know you deserved that, I came here because I love you, and this isn’t your fault it’s mine. OF COURSE I WANT TO MARRY YOU!!!” She said sounding annoyed but happy.
