Everyone clapped.
“What do we do now?” Florence asked Dan.
“I dunno, talk to our guests and go out for a drink.” He suggested.
“Sounds great.” Florence smiled and started talking to John’s family.
Dan looked to the next tall building, he saw two figures.
One held their hand up and waved, he knew it was Nick.
Dan held his hand up but put it back down quickly so Florence didn’t realize. He had to squint his eyes to see the other figure, which he identified as a woman.
He needed to confront Nick sometime, but not today, today was about Florence.
Nick turned to the woman, “I’m trying to figure out why I did it, what I don’t understand is why you did it, you had everything you needed.”
“I did it to protect her.” The woman showed no emotion.
“That obviously didn’t work.”
“Not from Mr McFadden I can’t interfere that’s why I sent you to help her, Mr McFadden deserves to die for what he has done to her.”
“That’s a bit far fetched isn’t it, I mean I’d beat him up pretty bad but death seems a bit harsh.”
“He has hurt her Nick; imagine if she was your daughter.”
“I wouldn’t pretend to be dead in the first place.”
“I did it to protect her from me. You’re dead now too.”
“She needed you and her step-mum didn’t turn out any better, I died because I can protect her more easily being a spy.”
“What was I supposed to do? I came home one day and Florence was in the arms of a man with a gun to her head, Peter doesn’t know even to this day that it happened, and I shot him. Florence cried and cried and so did I, I never intended to hurt her or get her into any kind of mess but I just had to leave her.”
Nick was quiet for a moment.
“I sometimes regret it but she’s turned out to be a good woman.” She carried on.
“She’s her mother’s daughter.” Nick smirked.
