Ed
Break down the walls, let heaven in. Somewhere in forever we'll dance again. We used to be inseparable. I used to think that I was irreplaceable. We lit the whole world up, before we blew it up. I still don't know just how we screwed it up - Selena Gomez
When I opened the door, I saw a girl I haven't seen in forever. Kimberly. She was dress in a short, blue dress and heels. Why was she dressed so fancy like? I mean, she never dresses this way unless we're going to a party.
I gulp. I was speechless as I stood there. Kim bit her lip and smiled.
"Hey, Ed." Kim says as she pushes me to the side and walks through the open door. My eyes are wide. I turn around and study her up and down. The low rider jeans she was wearing showed a new tattoo on her lower back.
"Uh, hey..." I say. "What are you doing here?"
Her smile brightens, "I've missed you!"
I look towards the door, which I still haven't closed, and prayed Charlotte didn't show up and that she was late. Or maybe she couldn't even make it. She got caught up with something with her boyfriend.
"You missed me?" I raise my eyebrows. It was unusual to hear Kim say anything like that, seriously. Considering she's never very sentimental.
"Yeah," she falls back, onto the couch. "how have you been, anyway?"
"I guess, okay." I say. "What about you? Any new boy toy?"
"New boy toy?!" she giggles. "I'm still with James, as usual."
I sit next to her, our elbows touching. Kim plays with a string of her hair and twirls it between her fingertips. It's awfully quiet in the room. So silent that I bet she could hear my heart beat.
She breaks the silence, though, and not with a topic I'm very elated about. She says, "Alice called me."
All I say is, "Oh."
"I heard about the baby..." her voice is quieter. If I knew we were going to be discussing Alice, I probably wouldn't have let her in. "she told me who the dad was."
"She did?" I ask.
"Yeah, it's a wanker called Oscar." Kim says and I roll my eyes.
I guess that makes sense, right? On the phone she told me, out of spite, that she had somebody else. I did believe her at the time, though. Then, I thought maybe Alice said that out of anger.
Then I think, maybe Alice called Kim and told her to stop by and say that she had someone ese. Just so I believed her. Yet, would she go that far? And I'm pretty positive that Kim would've said no.
To ease my mind, I ask, "When did she tell you?"
Kim grabs the bowl of cereal I had poured myself earlier and takes a big bite. With a full mouth, she says, "A few weeks ago. I finally got the time to come here."
"Oh." I say. It was true. I mean, I had talked to Alice a week or so ago for a split second. Only long enough for her to say she had someone else. Well, could it have been a phone call? I mean, I was drunk. Maybe it was a voice mail.
Now, here I am, alone and she's already moved on. Oh! And with the guy she cheated with. I'm happy for her. Maybe now she'll learn to grow up and settle down before doing something completely stupid.
Yet, she couldn't be over me; it doesn't take a week to get over a love that lasted years. I just don't get what happened to that. I guess when a relationship ends and the love is gone, I guess you're supposed to move on. I just wish it was easier and that time would fly by instead of taking forever.
