-twenty four weeks pregnant-

I put your picture away and wonder where you been . I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him- Sheryl Crow

He had showed up at my doorstep at five in the morning, with a cheerful smile, and his bags packed. I was still dressed in my robe and my eyes were barely able to open. The earliest I've woken up lately had been seven, not five. So, when Oscar called and said he was on his way, well, I wasn't ready.

I tried to give my best grin, though. Making it seem like I was delighted to see him at my door. I invited Oscar inside and into the kitchen, where I was hoping to make some tea before even thinking about hopping in the shower.

Oscar says, "We're leaving in twenty minutes. Are you packed? Are you just going to throw some sweats on and put your hair up?"

I stop rubbing my eyes and look at him. My cheerfulness was washed down the drain by the only thing he said to me this morning. Twenty minutes? I was in the least bit satisfied at the change of plans. I thought our plane didn't board until eight or so, and he was just coming over to help me pack and get ready. Considering I wasn't even done packing, I knew I was screwed.

I said the only thing that was in my mind, "Are you fucking kidding me?"

Oscar gives me a curt nod. I scoff and briskly turn around. Of course this was happening. I dropped the cotton ball robe, not caring about Oscar seeing me naked, and ran upstairs. When I reach the bathroom, I turn the knob for the shower and jump in quickly. A blast of cold water hitting my back, making me jump and almost slip.

I shriek, "Shit! Shit! Shit!"

I hear laughing from the doorway. I push the curtain away from my face, but shielding my body. I glare at Oscar and he just shakes his head. He says, "You're hilarious."

"Is this a joke?"

Oscar bites his lip and gives a tiny nod, "I got you!"

I push the curtain all the way back. My face is twisted in a grimace that could look good or bad. I'm not even thinking of covering myself up. His face turns beat red and he looks away.

I give a sharp, but joking, "I hate you!"

Turning away still, he grabs a towel of the hallway floor and throws it to me. I wipe down my face and shoulder, nothing else appearing to be soaked. I wrap it around and tie it under my arms. "You can look now," I say.

He lets out a sigh. Oscar looks at me and smiles, looking quite satisfied, "You okay?"

I shake my head, "You're an idiot."

"No, but seriously, we have to leave in, like, an hour."

"An hour?!" I say, groaning. "Are you lying to me again."

He shakes his head no, "You get a shower and I'll pack your things."

"You don't know what I need."

"I'm pretty sure I'l figure everything out. We're only going for a week." he smiles once more, before turning and walking through the hall and into my bedroom. He yells, "Just a bunch of clothes and undies! Right!?"

"Undies?! You call them undies?! Are you, like, a lady or something?" I joke.

"Shut up and get in the shower!"

I shake my head and wrip the curtain back. I wait for the water to warm up and jump in when it was scolding. I loved it that way. I took my time and by the time I got out, everything was packed and ready in the car. I didn't even have enough time to check my things over, I just went with it and jumped in the front seat of the taxi he called. Ready to take on everything.
