In retrospect, it was clear to me as I entered the pier. I should have known. It was so obvious! Nobody would have come only on the pier without also "visit" that welcoming, but cold water too.

After Nick and Christian had arrived with us, it wasn't long until Jeremy came running towards us. Really run. I thought at that moment that he would run us over the pile, because he didn't stop. But at the right moment he took the leap, jumped over our heads and made a jump into the water. The boys had cried, which turned into a laugh.

"God dammit! Jeremy! ", I had heard Elena scream as she appeared in no time behind me. "You're impossible! Here are children! "

"I want also.", were the three jumping, after which I had only shaken my head: "You can forget it!"

Jeremy had floated back to the surface and laughed, after which he wiped the water from his face and shook his head. "Yes!"

"How's the water?", Stefan had asked after he and Alex appeared as well.

"You will not go in there!", had been Moms response from the terrace.

"I would have thought that it is cooler, but it is fully okay.", Jeremy had nodded and swam inside.

"If it is 'fully okay', I wouldn't go in there.", I had seen Bonnie smile.

But even this statement had brought nothing, because anyway we could know it, Stefan, Damon, Tyler and my oldest brother had disappeared in the water, followed by Alex and finally Alaric.

A few days later I still had to laugh at my three little brothers, because they had been so disappointed, not being allowed to go. A few days later I was still so happy about this baby shower that I always went through the gifts and tinkered my head together, where they will stand. Most of all I was looking forward about Moms gift and I have also made it more than clear. Not that the other gifts wouldn't be good, they are. Because all gifts come from the heart.

But Mom's ...

She had give us a white cradle for the baby that goes around in our family and that already for decades. The white woven basket was attached by straps to the frame so you can rock it gently back and forth to bring the baby to sleep. It had a white sky, to keep the light away. Also positive are the roles, which were under the delicate frame, so you could take the cradle everywhere with you, in the house. All in all, a beautiful cradle to dream.

"Are you satisfied?"

As I turned toward the kitchen, I saw Elena leaning against the doorframe smiling at me.

"I can't put it into words.", I sighed and covered again the white wood of the basket with my hand. "I am more than satisfied, at the moment."

Currently we were alone in the house on the lake. But that won't last long, I hoped. Don't misunderstood, I like Elena really and I feel safe with her. But should anyone pay attention to the house, we two have bad cards. But we stood with the other in constant contact, so it shouldn't happen something.

"That's good to hear.", she finally settled down on the couch and leaned her head against the rest and closed her eyes briefly. "They are still hard working on your house."

"Your house ..." I repeated, and sat down on the chair near her. "That sounds so weird."

"But it's your house."

"Actually, it's Harry's house and not 'our'.", I frowned. "I'm nowhere committed."

Elena smiled wider. "But you live with him. You two will live with him, so it is your home. "

"Yes ..." I nodded. "Nevertheless."

"You'll get used to it."

"Shouldn't I be after all this time?", I slipped down a bit and sighed as my head reached the backrest. "I should have become accustomed to so much since all the time. But whenever I came close, everything changes. "

"I know what you mean.", it came softly from Elena. "So is the way of life. We can plan what we want, in the end it always comes different. I know what I'm talking, Lise. "

"I'm sorry.", I mumbled and gave her a quick glance. "I did not want to-"

"No, it's okay. Eventually you get used to it. You can't change it anyway, so in my case. For you ... it's different. "

"Not really. I don't want to live apart from the father of my child.", I said. "Besides, I love living with him, then I know that he's there. With me. Thus, it is uncertain when he's gone. I don't know where he is and whether if he is doing well. It is easier to have him near. Also-"

"-you are feeling complete."

"Exactly.", I smiled and closed my eyes.

The fatigue caught up with me, without knowing it. My attention to Elena's words faded after a few minutes and pulled me into dreamland. I didn't even know that I was exhausted and tired. Of what? It wasn't even comfortable to sit in this position on the arm chair.

And exactly this position woke me up again. Because I was so uncomfortable dozed off in the arm chair that I had neck pain when I woke up. My head was supported on my hand, which I couldn't remember and was bent to one side.

Oversleeping I brushed back my hair and blinked.

"Well, awake again?", I heard a voice.

"Yes.", I yawned slightly. "Was the best idea for a long time..."

"Does your neck hurt?"

I just nodded and leaned onto the armrests and back comfortable to slide rearward when I realized who I spoke with. Abruptly I raised my head and looked directly into her eyes.

"Rebekah!", I exclaimed in surprise and smiled. "What are you doing here?"

"We have just arrived. Before a quarter of an hour might.", she smiled warmly, helped me up and pulled me into a tight hug. "Hi sweety."

"Hey.", I leaned against her. "How are you? Is everything okay? Why didn't I hear something from you in such a long time?"

"We're fine.", she stroked my back. "We had to go to distance and convince Klaus that we have changed. You know, because of its hybrids. He wasn't in a very good mood. "

"I could imagine.", I nodded and sighed. "Has he done something to you?"

"It's all right.", she shook her head and looked at me again, after which she looked down on my stomach.

"Hi honey.", she covered the sides of my baby belly and smiled. "I hope you haven't cause your mommy too much pain."

"Lately, no.", I smiled slightly and also looked down. "How's Hayley?"

When Rebekah looked up, Hayley stepped with Elena in the doorway to the kitchen.

"Hi.", she beamed and took me also in a tight hug.

After an eternity, we finally sat down and told what was sorely needed. We hadn't seen each other or heard from one another.

We were serious in this conversation, but laughed a lot and exchanged news.

"Where's the rest?", Hayley wrinkled her forehead. "Is it so wise to leave you without Jo and residual gain here alone. No offense Elena, really - but ... "

"It's okay.", she waved her off. "They wanted to come back in the evening at the latest. At least Bonnie, Harry and Stefan. Those who may still announce I don't know. But until then, it isn't so long. And so far everything has gone well. "

Rebekah nodded slowly. "Until then, we definitely stay here."

"That would be nice.", I smiled. "Not that we get to you see in six weeks again."

"Don't worry. It isn't going to be six weeks.", Hayley winked and leaned back on the couch.

"How did you two get here?"

"Walking ... perhaps running.", Hayley sighed. "Sporty predisposed."
