Lynne P.O.V.
She sat motionless on her bed, which she only used alone, for a few days now. She wanted that Michael move out – what he did – she could no longer bear it.
It was late. Only an hour ago, they had returned home. Lisa's funeral would take place tomorrow, for there it seemed to be no chance to get her back.
It was painful to make this decision. She was her daughter. Her fourth-born child!
Not even the blood of the vampires could help her anymore ...Lynne folded her hands in front of her face and closed her eyes. It was a nightmare. She couldn't even look forward to the birth of her first grandchild, because she had lost a beloved child at the same time. Her own child.
She rose, low-airing, and turned off the lights, whereupon she sat back on the bed and swallowed.
"My poor child."
She had told Lisa – before the birth – of the beauties of a mother existence and now she wouldn't experience it.
"I'm so sorry, my dear child.", she sobbed, covering her face with her hands. "I should have guarded you more."
Tears wiped her palms as she gave them free rein, knowing that each of her remaining children slept, and no one would find her so fragile. She must be strong in front of them. She was their mother.
A timid knock sounded and she paused. She softly wiped her tears away, took a deep breath and cleared her throat: "Yes?"
"Mom?", the door opened, which was exactly opposite to her.
"Lauren, my sweetheart.", she smiled lightly, wiping her hands on the leggings and stretching her toward her. "Come here."
"I can't sleep.", she confessed softly, as she had seized her mother's hands and sat beside her on the bed.
"I understand." she nodded sympathetically, pushed her hair back. "Many thoughts are circling through your head, that's how I feel. Would you like to sleep in my bed today?"
"Yes.", Lauren nodded slowly.
It took another ten minutes when both were in the dark and were looking at the ceiling. Finally, Lauren turned to her mother, who noticed it by the movement on the bed.
"Mom?"
"Mhm.", she turned her head in her direction.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Everything."
"Will it ever stop?"
"What, my darling?"
"This feeling."
"Everything has an end. But it will stop, my darling, it'll be a while longer and that's good. She has taken a great place in our hearts. "
Lynne could see how her daughter nodded and continued: "I deeply regret that you were there. I regret that you had to see it. "
"I don't.", a slight smile spread across her face. "I was there in the last few minutes of my sister's life and I would not want to give that up."
Elena P.O.V.
Elena watched from her position at the doorway, Caroline. They had gathered together – early that day – in the Salvatore house. Only their inner circle, without the Cimorelli family, without Harry, without Jo. And prepared the funeral, respectively the ceremony.
"I've figured out a lot.", Elena admitted quietly. "When Klaus came into the game, I mean. When I realized what he was up to."
Caroline interrupted her work and looked to her best friend, who was now looking out of the nearby window.
