Lauren P.O.V.

"What the hell is she doing?" , it screamed inside of her. "Why is she talking to her potential murderer. Why does she provoke him?"

Fear.

Pure fear spread into her. Fear for her sister. She stood diagonally behind Stefan and could see him and Riley, who could almost put the gun on her sisters neck, so close to her.

"Why did you drive to me?", she asked. "Why didn't you just make it the easy way ... and drove off of the bridge?"

"Where did he get the gun from?", Damon murmured, standing next to Elena.

"I have no idea.", she replied.

"We should intervene and put an end to his accursed life."

"Oh, and how? So, that no one noticed, that we're undead, Damon?", Elena wanted to know.

"The main thing is, that Lisa don't get shot. We would survive a shot, she probably wouldn't.", Stefan thought aloud.

"Elizabeth Forbes. The key."

He released the weapon a second time, making me swallowing hard.

"Ri-"

"I won't say it again. Throw it!"

"It's ... 20 against 1, why doesn't anyone intervene?", Damon hissed.

"Okay.", Sheriff Forbes said slowly.

"It's not necessary, sheriff.", Lisa interrupted.

"Shut your god damn mouth!", Riley shouted.

Lauren glanced at Harry and recognized his clenched fists.

"If only we could intervene."

A moment later the key for the handcuffs landed in the snowy grass between Lisa and Riley.

"You're not expecting me to pick up the key, do you?"

"What if I do?", he said, lying his head slightly obliquely.

"Dream On."

Nervously, Lauren bit her cheek. If there was only one way...

"You didn't answer me.", Lisa interrupted as Riley wanted to attack her again.

"Pick up the key and you'll get your answer."

Lisa pressed her lips together as her left hand went to her right wrist.

"What are you doing there?!"

"This is just a hair tie.", she pulled it slowly from her wrist. "Relax. Dear God, I'll get a headache from this tension. Oh, no, wait ... I already have, thanks to your performance."

She tied her hair loosely to a braid and didn't let him out of sign.

"Couldn't you do it faster?"

"I thought you wanted to be a man and then you couldn't even open your handcuffs on your own?"

"I can't do magic yet.", he spat.

"Bonnie."

She turned her gaze away from him, went slowly to her knees and fished the key out of the grass. Out of the snow.

"Wait."

With an outstretched arm, she crouched there in the snow-covered grass, the single key tightly wrapped in her hand.

"I've just changed my mind."

"Did you realize, that your plan is totally foolish?", Lisa asked.
