In no time, we had finished the tree and cleaned up, and sat on the couch. Leaning against him, I had made myself comfortable on his lap.

"Now it looks like before again.", I sighed.

"Mmm. How about pizza this evening?"

Slowly I looked up at him and grinned: "I am for it."

He grinned as well, and stroked my arm with his fingertips. I just relaxed again in his arms until it came back in my mind.

"Oh no!"

Abruptly I broke away from him and stood up.

"What?!"

"Mom! I wanted to go to her. Oh no! She's probably worried now ... damn it.", I hurried around the couch, through the doorway and into the entrance area.

"Wait for a moment."

"I've kept her waiting long enough.", nervously I bit my lips as I turned to him.

"If-", but Harry was interrupted, because in the next moment the doorbell rang and Haley began to cry a floor over us.

"Go upstairs to Haley.", Harry nodded as he walked to the door spike.

I just nodded and went to the stairs, after which I took the first steps and looked back at him.

"Harry?"

"Go upstairs and stay there.", he didn't need to say more, because I understood that someone was at the door, whose sight I probably shouldn't see ... or the other way.

"Okay.", I muttered in agreement, hurried up the steps to my weeping daughter.

Arriving in her room, I closed the door and went to her bed.

"Oh sweetheart. It's all right. I'm there, Mommy's there.", I said soothingly, taking her up into my arms.

I cradled her after I gave her a kiss to her temple.

"It's all right, have you slept well, sweetie?", slowly I went over to the coiling table and put her on it.

It doesn't take long for me to wrap and to change her clothes. And finally I took her back to me.

"I said no!", Harry's voice came up to us.

I paused and looked over my shoulder to the door. Haley, too, seemed to have heard him, because her light-hearted gait stopped.

"Your daddy is talking to someone.", I leaned her against me, holding her head as she leaned against my shoulder. "We'll stay up here."

As I sat back on the chair, I leaned into the soft pillow and rocked my little girl and pushed the loud voices from below away.

"I should have taken my phone with me.", I muttered as I stroked her back and leaned my head back. "Then I should have called someone, because we should stay up here."

Haley sighed in my arms and seemed to cuddle closer to me.

"I'll stay with you, don't worry.", I kissed her head.

I quietly hummed a song to drown out sounds from below.

"Who is down there?", it went through my head. "Are they several? Is there only one?"

"If you don't leave immediately, I'll call the Sheriff!"

Slowly I rose. That was a bit too loud for me, down there. I put my daughter back in her bed, pulled the music box up and leaned down to her: "I'll be right back."
