Jazmin
I couldn't look away from him. After everything I'd been through over the course of my life with him, I still couldn't look away. He went just as crazy as I had known him to be. Now he was insane. His dark eyes held a desire that I wasn't able to understand, only slightly relate to. He wanted revenge on me just as badly as I wanted revenge on him.
I squeezed Red's hand, both relieved and completely terrified that he was with me in this moment. Tesh could see right away that I had a weakness. And I couldn't see any that he had. It gave him the upper hand which was exactly what I hadn't wanted. But there was no turning back now.
"Maleek." I said venomously, narrowing my eyes at him. "Four years and you're still as demented as you ever were."
He laughed a malicious maniacal laugh and I squeezed Red's hand again. It was a mistake for him to be here. I hadn't wanted him to come. The familiar fear that this would end badly returned tenfold.
"Yes, four years it has been, Jazmin. Way too long for me." He lifted the tonto he held up to his face and ran a perfectly manicured finger over it. "So what brings you back?" His eyes looked deep into mine and I couldn't speak.
So Red spoke for me. "We've come to kill you."
Tesh laughed again. "Who is this, Jazmin? A mutant to help you? How low you have gone!"
That angered me so much that I started to see red spots in my vision. I retaliated with the one response I knew would severely piss him off. "My mate."
Red sucked in a sharp breath next to me and Tesh's eyes flashed with a renewed anger. It was the first time I'd ever spoken of Red in such a way but it was high time. If we were gonna die anyway, might as well let the whole world know.
"Your mate?" Tesh echoed.
"Yes." I said firmly. "Hamato Raphael is my mate. My true mate."
"That was my position to fill." He said. "And you replaced me. So now I will make you pay." He turned to his soldiers. "Quickly! Stop Jazmin's friends before they get away with the Settlement!" They did as they were asked, leaving only Tesh, his commanding officer, Red, and I. "And I will handle things here."
He began to circle us and Red and I went back to back, careful to watch every move he made. My zombie Armageddon blades drawn, I couldn't keep my eyes away from Tesh's. He was planning a bloodbath in his sick mind I knew.
"It is not smart of you to come here and challenge me. With all the wealth and power I have, you stand no chance against me. Everyone will die." He looked directly at me as he spoke and I knew he was trying to convince me to give in. But I didn't have plans to do that. "Just think, Jazmin. If you would've listened to me then we wouldn't be here right now. I wouldn't of needed to capture Settlement 31 and bring them here to be held hostage." Each time he began a new circled he inched closer to me and Red. I knew this technique as he had used it on me many times before. The circle would continue to decrease in size until we were trapped. Then I would act out of instinct and it would be the wrong move. This was exactly what he wanted.
"You wanted me to be your slave! There's no way I would agree to that!" I backed into Red firmly in an act of protection. I would not let him suffer for this. "Red, get out." I whispered. "Run."
"Are you kidding? And leave you here with him?" He asked, turning his head slightly to look at me. "Not a chance, sweetheart."
Tesh lashed his tonto out at us, not coming even close to hitting us but getting his point across. "Silence!" He didn't like us talking to eachother. "You would not be my slave, Jazmin. But my mistress."
