Jazmin

I was late. I'd slept right through my alarm and arrived at work 15 minutes after I was scheduled. Marney was furious to say the least. After all, she expected me to do better after our talk yesterday. Or rather, her talk since I really hadn't said anything. I would have to stay later tonight and help Hammond clean the kitchen as my punishment. I almost wished she'd just fire me.

"Jazmin!" She barked for the umpteenth time. "Your pancakes for Table 3 have been ready for 10 minutes! Hurry up and get them before they get cold!"

I excused myself from my current table and made my way to the back. That was one of the many things I didn't particularly like about Marney, she'd yell regardless of who could hear. It was currently the breakfast rush and every head turned to her as she'd spoken. Sometimes, I really wished she'd been born mute because having a small mouth definitely didn't do anything for her volume.

I held my tray out and she slid the plate of pancakes onto it, her beady yellow eyes staring me down as I walked away. I rolled my eyes while my back was turned to her. In all honesty, I don't think I ever disliked my boss more than right now.

Tilga walked past me and giggled. I just ignored her. If I played on my emotions every time I was around her, she'd of been dead a long time ago.

"Sorry about your wait." I apologized to the Lochnessian at table 3. He looked up and smiled wide at me, his sharp teeth glistening.

"That's no problem!" He said much too enthusiastically as he dug in, never missing his mouth due to his eyeless state.

I turned around to head back to the kitchen but stopped dead in my tracks. I was getting vibes again. I hadn't gotten any feelings like this in a very long time. I sensed there were outworlders among us, as I had been trained to. As an elite, I was able to sense their presence and they were very close too. But no one here knew who I was and I had to keep it that way. If I encountered one of them, id have to keep it discreet in such a public place. I loaded more plates onto my tray, determined not to show my alarm. But no matter how much I did, I wasn't prepared for what walked through the door.

There were four of them, giant mutant turtles. Each had a different color of eyes and masks but for the most part they looked the same. Each one also carried weapons. I held my breath as they walked to an empty table, terrified that someone would notice but no one did. The customers probably just saw them as mutants. But I'd never seen them before or anything like them, which was cause for alarm.

I emptied my tray and watched as Tilga made her way to the turtle's table. I couldn't let her serve them, I had to be the one. I was the only one trained to recognize aliens so it had to be me. Lengthening my strides, I made it to them before her. She huffed, then turned on her heel and left. I breathed a silent sigh of relief.

"Hello, Boys." I greeted. It wasn't smart to question them in public. I would have to keep tabs on them for later. "I'm Jazmin and I'll be your waitress. What are you guys feeling like this morning?"

The turtle with the blue mask answered me while the others kept quiet. From what I could gather, he was obviously the leader.

"You got any pizza?"

"Uh, well yes we do. That's not exactly a breakfast dish though."

"I can eat pizza anytime anywhere!" The turtle with the orange mask blurted out. The one with the purple mask smacked him on the back of the head.
