"We all need food to survive."

Amelia's POV

I stared at my mate and whimpered.

He glanced back at me with his cold eyes and his gaze raked my body.

"Stop that damn whining." He snarled and I jumped.

I looked out of the window as he drove the car at incredible speed. My heart jumped at every turn and bump.

God was I hungry. The only thing running through my mind was food. Meat to be exact. A big juicy hamburger wouldn't sound to bad right about now. I could almost feel it in my mouth the nice succulent flavor of the meat invading my tastebuds. The softness of the bread. The warm scent.

My stomach growled loudly. I looked over at Kaden who was driving... Well I was seated in the back in the middle seat like a child. He had insisted I sit there. I looked out the window at the endless trees flashing by in the night. We were practically flying down this road. Apparently Kaden wanted to kill us. It took every fiber in my being not to dig my nails in to the seat only because I didn't want to damage the car. My stomach roared again.

"What's that noise?" My mate growled from the front. I looked at the back of his head and said softly, "My stomach..." he scoffed and shook his head.

Soon we came to a large house and I looked at it in awe.

We soon parked in a driveway and he hopped out of the car. Kaden shut his door with a slam and I slunk out of the car grabbing my things along with me.

"Come on." I looked over at him but didn't move.

He growled and stomped over and gripped a fistful of my hair. I yelped as he dragged me toward the house and I matched his pace so it wouldn't hurt as much.

We made it inside and I heard a new voice.

"Who's that?" The newcomer asked but I couldn't see who it was.

"No one." My mate growled and I felt my heart break a little. He growled and wrenched me forward.

"Walk right." He snarled and I whimpered softly. Kaden scoffed and dragged me along.

Soon we were in a room and he plopped me down on a couch. He finally let go of my hair and I groaned. I looked around the room in fear and my mate loomed in front of me. My head hurt and I held in a whine as I gingerly touched my scalp.

"You still hungry mate?" He asked and I looked at the ground. He growled and I fiddled with my fingers as I tried to ignore him and go to my happy place.

"Are you hungry or not?!" He boomed and I whimpered and nodded my head softly.

"Y-yes." I said softly and he nodded curtly.

"Okay then." He growled and left the room. I sat there shaking softly and looking around the room.

Tears pooled in my eyes and I hugged myself.

"Here." I looked up to see my mate walking in with a plate of food. Spaghetti to be exact.

I eyed it suspiciously and he handed it over. I looked at the food. It looked good and smelled really good but I was hesitant to eat it.

"Eat." He growled and I took a bite.

It tasted okay.

I was eating it when I noticed Kaden smirking. My stomach suddenly turned and I pushed the plate away not caring that it fell to the floor. I glanced at the mess of noodles and sauce on the floor accompanied by some meatballs.

My stomach twisted and burned and I clutched my abdomen looking at my mate in pain.

"What... did... you... do?" I gasped but I already knew. I'd felt this pain before.

"Wolfsbane. Don't test me again mate." He growled and I groaned and hurried to the bathroom. I scrambled inside and wretched in the toilet.

"When you're done in there clean up this mess you made." He growled from the room and I groaned and heaved again. The bile from my stomach smelled and tasted horrid. My stomach churned with agony.

"Holy... fuck..." I gasped in between vomiting.

My eyes let free my tears and I cried softly.

After a moment I hauled myself to my feet and stumbled out of the bathroom. My body was still hurting and weak from the question.

"The mess is waiting." Kaden said as he sat on the bed as if everything was fine and dandy.

I sighed a shaky sigh and crouched beside the mess. My hands shook slightly as I picked the most of it up and put it into the bowl. Sauce stained the tan carpet and I frowned softly wondering how I was going to get the stain out.

"Use this." My mate's voice said and something hit my shoulder followed by a softer something hitting my face. I glanced at the towel and bottle of spray and nodded softly and began getting the stain out, not bothering to look at my mate as I ignored the burning of my shoulder where the bottle hit me.

I don't like him Amelia... We've gotta get out of here before he does something worse. My wolf growled in my mind and I agreed wholeheartedly. A mate should love you, not gift you with such torture.

I finished cleaning up the mess to the best of my ability and luckily it didn't leave a stain. I stood and glanced at my mate who'd fallen asleep on the bed. His arm thrown over his head as he snored softly.

I walked to the bathroom and put the towel and spray on the counter before shutting the door and looking back to Alpha Kaden. He was still asleep and for a moment my wolf whined as I looked at him. He looked so peaceful, but even so I wasn't going any closer.

Suddenly one of his eyes opened and I froze under the beast's dreadful look. His other eye opened and the unmissable scowl returned to his face; contorting the angel into a monstrous demon.

"What are you doing?" He asked sitting up and I faltered over my words.

Calm down, he doesn't know that we're going to leave. My wolf assured me and I relaxed a fragment.

"Just about to go to bed." I said softly and he nodded.

"Then get your ass in bed." Kaden growled and I nodded, too tired to object, and slipped under the sheets. He huffed and wrapped his arms around me, holding me captive and my wolf growled at the sparks.
