"Ball till you fall."
Amelia's POV
"Rouges?" Kaden asked and Alpha Foxin nodded.
"A whole lot of them. Practically a pack." The alpha said and I frowned softly.
"They've attacked my pack a few times. We fought them off, but they were stronger than expected." Alpha Foxin said with a sigh.
"Thank you for informing me." Kaden said and the other alpha dipped his head.
"If you want to know more ask Alpha Kaunt." Foxin nodded his head to a tall black haired man talking briskly on a phone some yards away. His white suit contrasted with the brown of his skin.
I glanced at Kaden and he nodded to Foxin before we made our way to Alpha Kaunt.
The alpha finished his call with a soft growl as we came to stand beside him. He straightened up at our presence and turned his gaze on us. I instantly was allured by his eyes for one was ebony and the other an icy blue.
He gave a smile and his white teeth flashed against his dark pigmentation.
"Hello what can I do for you?" He said looking from me to Kaden.
"Alpha Foxin said you knew of the rouges?" Kaden said and the alpha nodded. He sucked his teeth softly.
"Yeah, the damn mutts keep riling up trouble." He growled in a deep voice.
"Why, are they messing with your pack too?" He said and I noticed him giving me a look.
My right eyebrow raised in questioning and the alpha's eyes traveled me before he growled softly. He looked up to my eyes again and a gleam flashed in their depths.
"What?" I asked and he blinked and looked away.
He ignored my question and turned his attention back to Kaden. Rain growled softly and paced back and forth in my head.
"She's a small one, isn't she?" The alpha said glancing back at me with a disdainful look and I bit back a growl.
"Like I was saying, Alpha Foxin has brought to my attention that rouges have been causing trouble." Kaden said ignoring the question and placing a hand on my lower back and shooting me a don't-overreact look. I huffed and my wolf rolled her eyes and walked away whereas I gave a forced smile.
"Where are you from?" Alpha Kaunt asked me and I frowned.
"Why does is matter?" I snapped not being able to hold it back.
The alpha scowled and looked at me with a curled lip. Rain instantly raised her tail in warning and held up her nose.
"It'd be best for you not to look at my mate like that, unless you want a problem." Kaden growled and my wolf puffed out her chest in pride of our dominant mate as the other alpha backed off in apology.
"My apologies Luna, you just look suspiciously familiar." The alpha said and I raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean by that?" Kaden asked and locked eyes with the alpha.
"She looks like a rouge I saw one day, leading them." The alpha said and I scowled.
"I'm no rouge." I growled and the alpha nodded slowly.
"Well you can't be too careful nowadays." The alpha said and I growled darkly before turning around and walking away. I was beginning to lose my patience and that wouldn't be good it I lost it and pounced on another alpha. It'd practically be a declaration of war.
Rain growled angrily as we slunk through the crowds and sat down at an empty table.
My fingers drummed against the clothed table as I stared out at the couples dancing and speaking with one another. Servants went by with trays of food and champagne asking if anyone would like some. I watched as one girl almost tripped into a woman but she caught herself in time. A small smile twitched at my lips as her face turned a shade of pink and she scurried off.
"Where'd you run off to?" I turned to see Kaden sitting down beside me with a raised eyebrow. His jaw was ticking slightly and he looked a bit uncomfortable.
"Something the matter?" I asked him and he blinked and quickly shook his head.
"No. Nothing at all... I was just thinking about what that guy said." He explained and I nodded softly and waved over a servant. He walked up and I took a glass from the tray. With a nod he left and I swirled the bubbly drink around in the glass.
Kaden eyed me with a slight frown as I sipped at the drink and finally I set it down.
"What?" I snapped not really meaning to and he shrugged and looked away.
I rolled my eyes before finishing off the drink in a few gulps. With a huff I stood and began to go toward the hoard of bodies.
"Wait." Kaden said abruptly and I turned and gave him an annoyed look.
"What is it?" I asked and he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I was just going to tell you not to drink anymore. You don't need to be getting drunk." He said and I scoffed and looked at the beer in his hand. Hypocrite much? I glanced back up at his eyes and nodded lazily before waltzing into the crowd.
Once I was out of his sight I beelined for another servant and grabbed a glass of wine before taking it down in thirsty swallows. I'd drink if I wanted to.
I grabbed another glass and replaced it with my empty one.
I was just putting the full glass to my lips when suddenly it was yanked away and I growled in shock and indignation.
I looked over and realized it was Kaden who'd taken it from me and our glares matched each other's. My fists clenched and I crossed my arms over my chest.
Kaden put the glass on the tray and waved the servant off with a snarl. The guy hurriedly walked away. My mate looked at me with a frown and I rolled my eyes.
"What did I just tell you?" He asked anger lacing his rough voice.
"I'm not sure." I retorted and met his eyes.
"I swear Amelia if you don't start listening-" he growled.
"What's gotten into you?" I snapped and Kaden paused the anger in his eyes fading some.
"What are you talking about?" He asked and I scoffed and looked away from him.
"You're acting like a lunatic." I said and he blinked a few times.
"No I'm not." Kaden said and I nodded.
"All I'm doing is getting a few drinks. You don't have to shit bricks because of it." I hissed and Kaden frowned.
"I'm not shitting bricks, but you can't just walk around getting drunk off your ass." Kaden countered and I scoffed.
"I'm not even drunk Kaden." I groaned and made my way back toward the table away from him.
Kaden huffed and grabbed my hand and subtlety pulled me back against his chest.
I'll be updating whenever I can.
Hope you're enjoying!
Peace,
Kayla
