"Seeing him again, was like a slap to the face by reality, and reality was that I missed him."

Amelia's POV

"Don't call me by the wrong name on purpose. Especially not his name. You're gonna get that mutt killed." He growled and I scoffed.

Okay, that may've been a bit childish on my part, but I didn't want him here. Well I did, but...

"What are you doing here?" I hissed and he gave me a long look. His golden eyes stole my gaze from anything else, trapping me.

My mood instantly turned annoyed and hostile.

"I couldn't sleep." He said softly and I frowned.

"So? Why are you here Kaden?" I growled. Just when I was feeling better he had to show up. Plus he scared the shit out of me.

He looked at me, his eyes tired and sad. He took in a tattered breath and groaned, "I can't stay here just for tonight?" He asked and I glanced away from him finally. I wasn't used to that pain in his eyes.

"No. Get out. How did you even find me?" I growled and saw his shoes sitting by the door. I picked them up and tossed them his way and he stared at them as they tumbled at his feet, one of them hitting his leg.

"Amelia please---" he began and I covered my ears. I looked at him in my deafness and he stopped talking and sighed. I lowered my hands.

"Just don't... G-get out." I said and he got up and for a moment I was relieved until he walked towards me. He reached out his hand and brushed my hair whereas the other gripped my waist and pulled me against his hard, warm chest.

"Just let me stay the night baby please... I promise in the morning I'll leave, but for now, just let me hold you." Kaden groaned and I pushed against him in vain; he was like a mountain and wasn't budging any time soon.

"It's only been a few months Kaden-" I started.

"Ten months and fifteen days. That's plenty of time for you to come to your senses." Kaden quipped and I looked up at him.

I then managed to push him away. He stumbled back and landed on the couch. Huh, who said you couldn't move mountains?

"Come to my senses? Come to my senses?! About what exactly?! That you're a dick? An asshole? That I want nothing to do with you? Because that's all I've realized!" I spat and turned from him my lips quivering.

No, do not cry. I told myself whereas my wolf was whimpering pitifully.

I heard his footsteps and soon I was embraced by his strong arms. His masculine scent flooded around me drowning me in his smell.

"Amelia don't say that... please." He begged and I shook my head.

My heart twisted and I sighed. He laid his chin against my shoulder and his breath billowed out on my skin.

"Leave me alone." I breathed, my heart ached in my chest and I squeezed my eyes shut. Kaden groaned and pulled my body against his.

"It's the middle of the night... you really want me to go?" He said in a hoarse voice and I nodded. Then his arms left me.

I opened my eyes and saw him picking up his shoes. He trained his eyes on me and they were flooded with emotion. I returned his look with a glare.

"Amelia, what happened to you?" He asked and I scoffed.

"You did! Get out of my house! Out! Damn you!" I yelled at him and threw up my arms. He blinked slowly and then a frown slowly came to his face.

"What did I do?" He asked and a growl laced his voice. I scoffed.

"You cheated! You hurt me! Treated me like nothing! You--"

"That was months ago!" Kaden cut me off with a snarl. He stomped toward me and gripped my wrists. He stared at me his brows twitching slightly as he frowned.

"Don't try and talk down on me. You've been with a guy the whole damn time so don't even go there." He spat and pinned me against the wall.

"Let go." I said and tried to break from his grasp, but he held me fast.

"Shut the hell up." Kaden snarled and I looked into his eyes with rising annoyance.

"I've waited and waited for you and don't think for a damn second that I'm about to just leave you." He said and gripped my jaw. I frowned as he leaned closer.

"Get out of my house." I said through gritted teeth.

"What you don't want me here, but that mutt can stay here right?" Kaden growled.

"That mutt has a name and he hasn't been here in months!" I hissed and pushed against him. Kaden paused and frowned.

"You kicked him out?" He asked and I shrugged.

"It was a mutual agreement." I said and looked away from my mate as he finally let my jaw go.

"When?" He growled and I offered him a scowl. He grabbed my shoulders and shook me.

"When did this happen?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.

"A few days after that night at the bar." I said and looked towards the wall.

"Why didn't you just come home then?" Kaden growled after a long pause of silence.

"I didn't want to." I shot back and he huffed in frustration.

"Why?" He asked and I felt a rumble in my throat.

"I didn't want to see you! I still don't want to see you! Get out!" I yelled losing my temper and shoving him.

"Amelia." Kaden growled and I pushed him towards the door.

"Out!" I yelled and he suddenly grabbed my wrist and tugged me against him.

His hands gripped my waist and pulled me so my body was up against his. With a growl he picked me up and held me off the ground as he pushed me violently against the wall again.

He pinned me there and his body pressed into mine and I tried to ignore the tingles running through me. His eyes met mine and I struggled to get out of his hold.

"Get away from me." I hissed and my heart pounded as I tried and was failing to get down and away from him.

I just wanted to get to my room. To lock myself in there. To cry, to scream.

I wanted to sleep.

Sleep sounded much better than my current predicament.

Couldn't I sleep? Why did he have to pick so late to start something?

"Stop i--" I began, but his lips overtook mine as he kissed me and my words were lost.
