15| Are You Okay Alpha?

"It hurt to see it."

Kaden's POV

"Help! Help!" I lifted my head from my paperwork as I heard a yell.

Go Kaden! My wolf howled and I stood and hurried out of my office.

"Oomff!" A girl ran right into me and she fell to the ground as I looked down at her. I reached out my hand and hauled her to her feet and instantly thought of my mate. I sighed softly.

"What is it?" I asked the girl and she looked at me with big teary eyes.

"The Omega... rouges tried to get me and Nancy, but she fought them away. She's hurt really bad! There's blood everywhere!" The girl cried and my eyes widened in shock and pain clawed at my heart.

"Where?" I asked and the girl pointed and started running down the hall.

Ryan get some men to track down these rouges... And get the pack doctor. I mind linked him and a few seconds later I heard his voice.

What... why? His voice said and I growled.

It's Amelia. Just hurry. I ordered running after the girl.

Lia? What did you do Kaden? My beta's accusing voice growled in my head. I frowned at the nickname.

I didn't do anything. Rouges attacked her dammit now get to it! I retorted and blocked the link.

I followed the kid through the woods and came to a skidding halt when I saw the bloodied white wolf laying on her side as a child brushed through her reddened fur.

I stumbled over and the little girl looked up at me, "I tried to make her stay awake Alpha, I really tried." The girl said and for a moment everything just stopped. I couldn't hear or feel as I knelt beside my unmoving mate. She was so still.

I reached out my hand and let out a sigh, my senses returning as I felt her heart beating and saw her flank rising and falling as she breathed. I sat back and calmed my frantically beating heart.

"Are you okay Alpha?" The little girl said and I looked down at her. She gazed at me curiously. Her blonde curls blew in a sudden gust of wind and she pushed them back with tiny hands.

"Do you love her?" She asked and her blue eyes studied me; the older girl shushed her. The child seemed not to care as she crossed her arms and looked at me.

I opened my mouth and shut it not being able to find words.

"She doesn't like you. I see why." The girl said and I gulped. The older girl grabbed her younger sister's hand and tugged her away.

"Hush Nancy. Sorry Alpha." The girl said and I shrugged.

"It's okay..." I said and brushed a hand along Amelia's flank.

I looked around and noticed the dead wolves, all male.

"What happened?" I growled and gently picked up my mate; I flinched as she whined. She was still unconscious.

"They tried to take us, but she saved us and killed them; two got away." The little girl said and I growled.

I glanced over as the rustling of leaves was heard and I saw Ryan as well as some other men. They stared and I growled softly.

"There's still men out there... hunt them down. I want them alive." I snarled and they nodded and Ryan gave me a look full of vengeance.

"Alive, Ryan." I ordered and he dipped his head. If anyone killed the bastards it would be me. He nodded curtly then shifted; his wolf gave a rallying hunt howl. The others shifted as well and they took off barking and howling.

"Go on home you two, wait no, you need to see a doctor too." I said once I realized the older girl's leg was bleeding.

I held my mate close to my chest and led the girls back to the pack house. My heart pounded in my chest.
