"Chocolate is deliciously addictive."

Kaden's POV

I watched my mate laying in the hospital bed and frowned. This was the second time, mind the first time was my doing.

She'd healed up, but was still under the anesthetic and asleep.

Amy was beside me sitting in a chair and texting away on her phone.

"Can you put it on silent?" I growled after almost an hour of hearing the constant tapping of her fingers hitting letters. She gave a huff and switched it then began tapping away again, but this time I could hear her nails hitting the phone.

"Dammit Amy stop fucking with your phone." I snarled and she groaned and turned off her phone.

"Why are we still in here?" Amy whined and I clenched my jaw.

"You're free to leave." I said through gritted teeth and she huffed and slumped back in her chair.

"Why don't you come with me? We could have some fun?" She said and leaned close to me from her chair, pushing up her breasts in the process and changing her voice to a seductive tone. I tensed as her hand begin to run up my arm.

"Move your hand before I break it." I snarled lowly and she pulled her hand back.

"You wouldn't be complaining if I was touching your-" she began.

"Amy." I growled.

"What you know you love it when I-" she started again.

"Enough Amy!" I snarled and she frowned then looked away from me.

"She's so stupid. Serves her right." Amy said staring at my mate and I growled. Before I knew it, I had her pinned to the wall, my fingers locked around her throat. Her blue eyes widened in shock and fear.

"Do not speak of her like that. She was protecting her pack." I snarled and let her go.

She rubbed her neck and looked at the ground.

"Why are you still here anyway?" I growled.

She shrugged the gave a little childish stomp of her foot, "Where else am I going to go?" I scoffed.

"I don't know; your own pack maybe, instead of hanging around me like a damn shadow." I growled and her face turned slightly red.

"You told me to come here Kaden; you did. I don't like the bitch anymore than you do so I'd think you'd show some appreciation. You don't have to be such an ass." Amy said sharply and I growled darkly.

"Do not speak to me like that, you slut." I snarled and Amy only smiled bitterly.

"Oh but little Omega can call you a -what was it- oh yeah, an 'egotistical, sadistic jackass' and you just walk away? Yeah Kaden, I saw that argument that y'all had a few weeks ago. For a moment I felt bad." Amy chastised and I growled.

"Shut the hell up Amy." I snarled and stepped toward her. She sighed and gave a shake of her head.

"Can you both be quiet?" A harsh voice made me pause. I glanced over at Amelia who was sitting up with an annoyed look etched on her face.

"I'll be outside." Amy said and then left the hospital room. I growled and looked back to my mate.

"Amelia-" I started, but the she-wolf growled.

"I don't want to hear it." She said and I frowned and was about to say something else when I heard the door open and shut.

"I thought you were waiting outside Amy." I growled.

"Don't get me confused with your wh-girl Kaden." Ryan's voice said and I looked back and saw him standing with a little girl -Nancy.

"She wanted to see Amelia." My beta said and the young girl nodded and trotted toward the bed.

"Are you alright Amelia? I thought you were gonna die for a moment. I was so scared." Nancy said and clambered onto the bed. I eyed her wonderingly as my mate smiled at her and let her climb onto her legs.

"It's gonna take more than a few rogues to kill me little one." Amelia said and the girl sat back and stared at my mate.

"What?" Amelia asked and the girl looked at her fingers.

"My mama said that once." Nancy said softly and guilt crept into my mate's eyes.

"I'm sorry... its gonna get better Nancy. You've got me now right?" My mate asked and the little girl flung herself into Amelia's arms. I watched and something in me stirred.

She'd be a good mother. My wolf growled.

"Do you need somewhere to sleep?" Amelia asked and the little girl nodded.

"Well I'll make sure to get you a room... Ryan." My mate said looking me over coolly.

"Yes?" My beta asked.

"Can you find a room for her... close to mine please." Amelia said.

"Of course Luna." Ryan said stressing her title and left the room.

"He knows you're Luna too?" Nancy said softly and I saw Amelia nod gently.

"The beta's nice he got me a cookie." Nancy said and Amelia smiled.

"Yes Ryan's nice; what kind of cookie did he give you?" Amelia asked and the little girl responded quickly, "Chocolate chip." My mate smiled softly.

"That's good. Was it yummy?" She asked and and Nancy nodded.

"Yes chocolate chip cookies are the best, don't you think so?" Nancy said and my mate shrugged.

"I've never had one." Amelia sighed and Nancy gasped loudly.

"You've never had a chocolate chip cookie?!" The girl practically yelled and my mate raised her eyebrows and I frowned softly. I agreed with Nancy. How'd she never have a chocolate chip cookie?

"No." Amelia said and the girl looked beyond shocked.

"That's insane." Nancy said and my mate shrugged softly.

"What's insane is that you've been hiding out in this pack and no one's noticed." Amelia said and I raised an eyebrow.

"What?" I asked and my mate looked me over.

"She's an orphan and has been secretly living in this pack." Amelia said and I looked at the girl and her face reddened a bit. She tugged on Amelia's arm and whispered something in her ear. My mate tensed a little and her eyes widened.

My eyebrow lifted as I wondered what the little girl had said.

"Well let's get out of here." Amelia said slipping out of the hospital bed and Nancy followed cheerfully.

"Where are y'all going?" I called as they rushed past me.

"To find my room!" Nancy yelled and the two disappeared from my sight. I left the room and nodded in satisfaction when I realized Amy wasn't waiting for me. Hopefully she'd gone home.
