44| You Heard Me

"I couldn't comprehend it... I was so close to losing the one I loved and I wasn't even aware of it."

Amelia's POV

"He did what?!" I yelled not meaning to. I looked at Nancy in dumbfounded silence, waiting for her to answer.

What she'd just told me made my word spin.

"He tried to kill himself." She repeated and I felt like someone punched me in the gut.

What the fuck?!

I stomped toward our room and pounded on the door. My dream kept playing over in my mind.

After some moments it opened to reveal a tired looking Kaden. He looked at me and blinked slowly, shock showing in his eyes.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I screamed and pushed him.

I was angry. I was so angry, I felt like I could kill him myself.

"You stupid bastard! Don't do that shit ever again!" I yelled and slapped him. Kaden looked at me with confused eyes.

"Wha--" he started.

"You tried to kill yourself! What the hell?" I growled and my voice cracked.

"Amelia--" he groaned and tried to pull me in for a hug.

"No! Don't touch me! Don't ever do that again!" I snarled and pushed him away from me. He growled softly.

"What?" He grunted and ran a hand through his disheveled hair.

"Why would you do that?" I asked and my voice trembled. What would I've done if he'd actually done it? Pain pierced my heart.

He was quiet for a long time.

"Why do you care?" He growled at last and I huffed in anger. I looked at him and felt my lips beginning to quiver and I bit them to make them stop. My hands trembled and I clenched them into fists. I felt like I was breaking inside.

"I care because you're supposed to be an Alpha. I care because you're acting like a dumbass! I care because I fucking care about you, you idiot!" I yelled and pushed him. My voice shook and I felt tears running down my face.

"Amelia--" Kaden groaned.

"You were just going to leave me..." I said in a broken voice and Kaden scrubbed his hands down his face before he growled softly.

"You left me." He finally said and began to shut the door and that's when I snapped.

I pushed the door out of his grasp and shoved him hard in the chest, "I left you because of what you did! You brought it on yourself! And you try committing suicide?! And you fucked that damn whore again! What the hell is wrong with you?!" I yelled and slapped him. I went to hit him again, but he caught my arm by the wrist.

He was silent for a long time as he held my arm, his eyes studying me and his breaths ragged.

"I'm sorry..." he whispered and I felt my heart stutter.

He pulled me against him and my body tensed at the feeling of his form against mine.

"No." I growled and pulled out of his grasp. He looked at me with sadness sparkling in his golden eyes.

"I miss you... so much... please... can you stay? You don't even have to sleep with me, I-I can stay in another room." Kaden said in a tattered voice and it sounded so strange to me.

After a pause I shook my head, "No Kaden, thanks, but I should go to my own home." I said and sighed.

"But this is your home." Kaden pleaded and I shrugged.

"Not right now, it isn't." I said and my mate whimpered.

"Please, I'll do anything." Kaden growled and knelt down at my feet. I closed my eyes as he took my hands in his.

"Anything?" I asked softly and opened my eyes.

His orbs locked on mine and he nodded, "Yes, anything." He said and I nodded slowly.

"Then let me go, don't try to kill yourself again, and I'll come back... deal?" I said and he frowned.

"But--" he started and I pulled my hands away.

"Deal?" I repeated and he grasped my hands again.

"Okay deal... but can I do something first? Before you go?" He said and I eyed him curiously before giving a nod.

He pulled me closer and wrapped his arms around my waist before settling his head against my stomach. He hugged me to him and I, not knowing what to do, but feeling like I should comfort the crazy Alpha, ran my hands through his hair. He let out a whine and nestled closer.

"I love you..." he rasped in a voice that was barely audible.

My heart pounded, but I pretended not to hear him.

After a while I sighed, "I've got to go now."

My alpha slowly let me go and I stepped back from him.

"Wait." Kaden said standing up and pulling my body against his. His hands slid down my back and I gasped as he kissed my mark.

"I know you heard me baby." He growled huskily into my ear and let me go.

"You better go now, because I'm fighting the urge to just tie you to the bed and keep you here." He said in a voice that made me want to drop everything and lay on the bed for him, but I controlled myself. I backed out of the room before turning and walking briskly down the hallway.

Well... that was really sexy actually. I hurried my pace and literally ran to my motorcycle.

I put on my helmet and took a deep breath trying to get Kaden's voice out of my head. After a while his voice faded to the back of my mind and I let out a breath before mounting my bike.

I sighed and drove off towards my house the whole while my heart pounding in my chest.
