37| Inferno

"If he was fire then she was the rain to put him out."

Amelia's POV

I stomped away from Kaden, my heart racing.

I hurriedly spotted Noah and rushed over to him.

"We've got to go. Now." I said and he frowned softly.

"Look out!" Someone yelled and suddenly people were scrambling around.

I gulped as a snarl cut through the air and soon Kaden's wolf Knight was stalking up to us. His curved claws clicked along the floor with every step and his chops were pulled back to reveal his long dagger-like fangs. His walk was stiff and tense and his angry golden eyes focused on me, but settled on Noah.

I shot Noah a glance and he looked at Knight with wide eyes. His eyes sparked with his wolf's, but Noah didn't move toward him only let out a wary yet dominant growl. Knight snarled horrendously at this and Rain fidgeted inside of me.

Without another sound Knight launched himself at Noah and the two went barreling into a table which then flipped over, spilling drinks and sending glasses flying.

Knight tore into Noah's side and he yelled before his body shifted into a well sized jet black wolf. Kaden's wolf was noticeably larger and more muscled than Noah's. The two dark wolves slashed into each other and Knight's white paws were stained crimson.

They crashed around the tables and people screamed and hopped out of the way as blood began staining the ground and snarls and growls were becoming more monstrous.

Noah's wolf scrambled underneath Knight and managed to bring his jaws down on the alpha's white tail. Knight snarled and ripped his tail free before wrenching Noah's wolf up by his scruff and tossing him into another table. My friend growled and stood up on unsteady legs.

Knight lunged at him again and the two tumbled in a whirlwind of enraged testosterone.

My mate managed to pin Noah's wolf down and without hesitation his fangs were buried in the jet black wolf's neck.

"Stop it! Kaden stop! Let him go!" I yelled and jumped into the mix. I tugged at Knight's scruff and he snarled at me before biting harder and Noah's wolf managed a gurgling pained yowl.

I growled and grabbed a glass and tossed it at Knight's head. It broke across his face but he only snarled again.

"Don't make me hurt you. Just let him go." I spat and Kaden's wolf only growled at me. I frowned and let my claws form before digging them in Knight's flank. The alpha whimpered a bit but didn't loosen his hold.

"Kaden... listen." A voice said and I glanced over at Ryan in shock.

"Let him go." I growled and finally Knight released Noah's wolf and he coughed and whined. I pulled my claws from my mate and knelt beside Noah.

I ran a hand through his black fur and whispered to him as he whined in pain.

"Focus on healing... You'll be okay." I told him and his eyes met mine.

A whine came from behind me and I turned to see Knight watching me, his ears flat in sadness. He looked from me to Noah and growled before turning tail and blundering through the crowd that had formed.

"Alpha Kaden! Dammit... why Amelia?" I looked back over to Ryan. He looked at me like a stranger.

"He's your mate Amelia. You have no idea what you've done." Ryan said and I growled before standing.

"What I've done? What I've done?! Have you forgotten what he's done? It's my life and I can live it how I want to." I spat and the beta shook his head.

"You don't understand." Ryan growled and I scoffed.

"What don't I understand?" I said sarcastically.

"It's killing him." Ryan said and I rolled my eyes.

"It hurts for a bit." I said and he shook his head.

"It's literally killing him." Ryan said and I paused.

"What?" I asked and the beta growled.

"He's dying." Ryan spat and anger laced his voice.

No; he's lying. I'd feel it if Kaden was...

"Don't stand there and lie to me. He's not dying, he's perfectly fine. You and me both just saw the fucking scene he pulled!" I snarled and the beta's green eyes blazed.

"Are you really that naïve?" Ryan asked and I growled.

"Just stop." I spat and the beta scoffed.

"Whatever happens next; I just want you to know it's on you." Ryan said the with a final glare at me and Noah he left following the way my mate had gone.

I shook my head and helped Noah's wolf to his feet.

"Come on Noah we're going home." I said and his wolf whined softly as he followed me out. I picked up his clothes and he managed to shift and change in the parking lot. He was mostly healed and looked at me with tired eyes.

"Can you drive?" I asked and he nodded.

"I'm sorry." I said softly and he shook his head and kissed my forehead. His hands gripped my waist and he moved his mouth to mine and placed a forgiving kiss to my lips.

"It's not your fault." He croaked and we mounted our motorcycles and started home.

Oh, but it was.

Welp, Kaden didn't kill him.
