"Your worst battle is between what you know and what you feel."
Chapter 39:
Winter's warriorJASPER POV:
I sat on my makeshift bed, waited for Monty to come so we can take a quick bath at the lake. My mind wandered through so much topics and even some memories but someone I couldn't take my mind off of was Raven. I felt so tied to that subject, all those hours we've spent talking while searching for Clarke were so different than those I've spend with Octavia. Yes, she was my first love but she cannot be my last, it still kinda hurts when I think about all the moments we've shared together. It's now just a fading memory. We've talked about it though, after the party yesterday evening, we agreed we're better as friends and I do indeed feel more confident in our friendship than I have ever felt for our relationship.
Monty peaked through my tent's curtains and spoke;
"You ready, brother?""Yeah, coming in a sec, let me just take my spare clothes." I told him.
"Oh is it okay if Harper comes?" He asked me with that sneaky grin.
"Suuuure.. if I can take someone as well?!" I thought.
"Deal bro, see you in five at the gate." Monty said and exited my tent.
"Raven?" I went to her tent to ask her.
"Yeah?" She turned around from the radio.
"Wanna go down to the lake? Monty, Harper and I thought it would be good to take a quick bath." I asked her, honestly- I was nervous.
"Sure, great idea! Let me just tell Lincoln and I'll be there within a minute." She replied happily.
"Awesome!" I said and went out to take my spares.
RAVEN POV:
'I figured I'd be more productive if I feel good about myself so sure, I'll go with them to the lake.' I took my spare clothes and a bottle of clean water and headed to tell Lincoln. He kindly agreed and told me not to worry, the camp is good while in his hands. I met Monty, Harper and Jas at the gate and within a couple of minutes, we came to the lake. We stripped down to our underwear and jumped in the lake. Jasper did a 'canon ball' well, that's at least how Monty called it right before following after him. They left Harper and I in laughter. I truly, genuinely felt happy at time being.
We quickly finished our bath and changed into spares we've brought while in the same time arguing over engineering and how exactly to fix the damn radio and contact the Ark. We've been on the ground for over 5 months now and Abby has definitely lost any hope of our project which was meant to bring Clarke to her.
"Earth to Raven!" Jasper called. I completely zoned out after thinking of Abby and my unsuccessful mission.
"Ye, I'm fine." I faked a laugh. He placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Rae, it will work, just give it a bit more time." Jas comforted me.
"I really hope it does."
CLARKE POV:
"You have to warn your people, she'll come after all of you." Lexa sighted.
"Is there a way to prevent the possible blood spilling?" I asked her frightfully.
"Only if we find Ontari before the attack, no one knows if the first of her commands among the rouges will be to hurt our clan of yours. We are truly hoping it doesn't get to that, although her army might be smaller than ours, her rouge warriors are highly trained, one of Azgeda's best." She explained roughly.
