Can't Forget

Chapter 4

Brantley takes JJ's keys and walks around the truck and notices Chase standing there.
      BG walks up and said," I want to know what the hell JJ was talking about getting laid tonight, so start talking and don't think about lying cause I saw the damn video of you dry humpin her onstage. Do you care about her at all? She's works in a school her students and parents will see that so I suggest you take the damn thing down and pray real hard that she doesn't lose her job over it cause if she does I will come stomp your ass."
   "First off I don't owe you any explanation but I didn't put the video on there I haven't even seen it, but I will go take it down as soon as I get back to the bus. She has a nice buzz going and I got a phone call and had to leave her. When I got back she had more than a buzz so I called Kolby and put a stop on us going any further than a kiss even though she wanted to, I told her no and told her I had rather her hate me tonight than hate me later. I also told her that I saw the hurt in her eyes and knew that as long as you were in between us it wouldn't work. You know what she told me and I quote 'you have it all wrong, BG is nothing to me and I am nothing to him. He made that clear 5 years ago. I came here tonight for a good time Chase not to be lectured and told that I am hung up on BG. ' so before you come at me you might want to look at yourself man."
BG said,"well you don't know everything and I didn't either and still don't but I'm about to get some damn answers. Thanks for calling Kolby"
BG gets in the truck and he sees that JJ is already asleep. He pulls out heading back to the farm, thinking about all the things that Amber said and what Chase has told him. JJ thought he didn't care about her, hell he has been lost without his best friend. She moved away all of a sudden without telling him goodbye, was just gone when he went to her house. Kolby was pissed at him for so long and jumped at the chance to work at the farm. Today was the first time in 5 years that he had seen her and she walked away like she was glad to get away from him. He was gonna find out exactly what had happened, why she felt like she was nothing to him. Hell, she had been in his life since she moved to Georgia in the 4th grade and she was 10 years old and he was in the 6th grade and 12. She stood up to the older kids picking on her and never backed down and that was all he needed to see before he stepped in and from that point on they were inseparable. It was BG, JJ and Ko, they grew up and she stood beside him through the drinking and then was his biggest supporter when he got sober. That was something Amber didn't do she told him if that was what he was about she was gone. Then there was Jana and that fiasco. His music took off and JJ was always his biggest fan. He tries to remember what happened or what was going on 5 years ago that he wasn't there for her but he can't come up with anything.
JJ moves over to him and lays her head on his shoulder and said," feels so good"
He thought if you only knew JJ, they pull into the farm. BG hoped that Amber had cleared out like he told her to. He was going around to get JJ but Kolbey beat him to it and he had her in his arms. BG got the door and Kolbey took her to his room and took her shoes off and covered her up and told BG that he needed to go see if Amber was still here cause if she was then he needed to get her out.
  BG walked into his room and he saw Amber asleep in his bed and it made him mad all over again. He grabs their bags and takes them to his truck. He goes and tells Kolby that he is talking her back to Georgia but that he would be coming back not to let JJ leave. Kolbey told him he would do his best but wouldn't promise him cause he knew JJ.
   Brantley walks back to the bedroom and picks Amber up and carries her to the truck and he heads back to Georgia so he can get rid of Amber and figure out why JJ thought she didn't mean anything to him and what happened that made her leave without a word.
Amber wakes up and asks what was going on and Brantley told her that he had told her to leave and she didn't do he was taking her back to Georgia and she had the weekend to pack her shit and get out of his house. Amber starts crying and telling him that he doesn't mean it that she loves him. He looks at her and told her that if she loved him then why did she do what she did to separate him from his best friend. Amber told him that she saw how he looked at JJ and how she looked at him and that they were more than best friends they were fuck buddies and she wasn't gonna be with him and have JJ up in her face all the time. She did it for his own good and he would be thanking her. Brantley told her that he would never thank her and that him and JJ were never like that, they were best friends and had grown up together and been through hell and back together. He was sorry that he had wasted all this time on a self absorbed, insecure little girl like her. He meant it when they got to his house she needed to pack what stuff she had there and leave. He was done because he couldn't be with someone he couldn't trust. He told her she could keep the ring and anything he had given her but if she wasn't out then he would have the sheriff remove her and her crap. Amber was so mad that she told him that he would regret this and she wouldn't be there this time he came crawling back, he laughed and said I didn't crawl back this last time you contacted me. I was doing fine without you, I had gotten sober and my music was going great so not sure what you mean by that but it's time for us to say goodbye for good Amber. I can't be with you knowing you are the reason that I lost JJ for the past 5 years and that she thought she didn't mean a damn thing to me cause we both know I would kill for her but more than that I would die for her cause she would have done that for me. And honestly I still would. So it's over. He pulls up to the house and tells her to get out and that the sheriff would be by in a couple hours for her to give the keys to him. She is standing in the driveway and Brantley pulls out and heads back to Alabama to the farm and his family just as the sun breaks through the sky on a new day, and hopefully a new beginning.
