Can't Forget

Chapter 61

JJ meets her team at the gym the next morning and they load their bags on the small charter bus. It was the 10 girls, JJ, Lana who was her assistant coach and her bookkeeper and good friend Jackie. So it really was an all girls trip.
JJ has told both Lana and Jackie about her decision to leave and take the job at UGA. She also sat down with Mr Hayes and discussed it with him too. He supported her and was proud of her and told her to give him a heads up when she went public with the knowledge. She did feel that things in her life were falling in place now after such a long time of it being messed up.
They are on the bus and Holly yells out, "hey Coach are you and BG ready for your wedding and the honeymoon?"
JJ just grins and says," Yes I am, I love him and can hardly wait to be his wife."

The girls all laugh and Oakley said," Since you held out on us about knowing him I think you need to give us some dirt on Mr Badass"

"Well what are you wanting to know Oak?"

" Well Coach is he like his image or is he a big teddy bear?"

"He is both as you very well know Oak he isn't afraid to mix it up with anyone although he doesn't do that as much anymore now when he was younger he would fight first without knowing what was going on and he is a teddy bear with those he loves."

" I want to know how y'all got back together since you had been apart for years but were friends with his brother." Holly asks

" I was at the farm hanging with Ko and he and Amber pulled up and planned on spending the weekend and I left. He wanted to know why I had shut him out and it made me mad cause I thought he knew. Then I went to hang out with Chase and that was fun. He came with Ko to pick me up cause Ko needed someone to drive my truck home. And that night and the next day it all came out 5 years of lies and her keeping things from him and me. And we just decided to come clean on how we felt and see where it went. And you all know how it turned out"
"I want to ask how it's gonna work out with y'all getting married and he is a Georgia boy and lives there, will you be moving? Cause it's something we all want to know and no one wants to ask" Cait asks.

" Why don't we talk about that after the tournament and focus on the games we have to play okay?"

"Coach Jan we love you and want to know so we know how to do this. You told us you would never lie to us so please don't start now. We all pretty much know but we want you to tell us." Oakley told her.

"You are right I promised you that when I became your coach. So I had planned on waiting to say anything until after we were back home after winning state but yes come May I will be moving to Georgia to live with my husband and I will be taking a recruiting/ coaching job at UGA. They approached me and offered it to me and it is something that I can do while traveling with BG on tour. I love you girls and it was a hard decision but I love BG and I want to marry him and spend the rest of my life with him." She told them with tears running down her face.

"Well then that just gives us more reason to win State and send you off on top. Not that we wouldn't be trying but it just gives us extra incentive. And we understand Coach we knew that was what needed to happen. We love you and know that your place is with your husband." Oakley said. The other girls all agree and tell her they love her. JJ makes her way and hugs them all and then she said," Please don't say anything to anyone outside this bus because I want this to be about y'all not me. That is why I haven't said anything before now."

They arrive at the Sheraton and check in and and then they all head to the spa for massages. They go from one place to the other getting facials and having their toes done. JJ Lana and Jackie have their nails done and when they ask JJ what color on her toes she grins and said"red cause it drives BG crazy"
Lana laughs and tells her she is so bad torturing that man. They head back to the rooms to eat and then they meet in the coaches suite to watch film on the team they face Monday.

Sunday they wake up and go to breakfast before heading to church as a team. After church they head to lunch before making there way to the gym for their final practice. They ran through their plays put in a some new ones and went over what to do to break the other teams press. After they got back to the hotel JJ headed down to the fitness room to work out. She's a bundle of nerves and she needed to get it out before they all head to supper. She puts on her ear buds and gets lost never realizing she had an audience. When she is finished she looks up and sees Chase standing in the doorway. She picks up her towel and looks at him waiting for him to make the first move.
Chase said," Can we talk just a minute?"
JJ nodded yes and sat down on a weight bench and motioned him to the opposite bench.
" JJ I want to apologize for what I did. I have already told BG and I told him to tell you Congratulations on your engagement and wedding but he told me to tell you myself. I did what I did cause I saw that night that I had no chance to make you happy. BG had your heart even though it was broken and I just wanted you happy. I wanted to make sure that he took you serious and felt like pushing him was the only way. I'm sorry JJ I messed up by doing that. I have told him all of this but I need to ask you to forgive me. Yes I wanted to be with you but I knew that night I would never and I was a little mad and that played into it also. So I was in town heard about your game and wanted to ask you in person will you forgive me for being a royal jackass?"
"Chase, BG told me y'all had talked and worked it out. We are good as long as you know that he's it for me. I miss having you as a friend but I won't put my relationship with BG in danger, so one slip up and he knows all about it. Thank you for the well wishes and I'm glad this is fixed cause you both will be seeing each other a lot since you are in the same business. So yes I accept your apology." JJ told him. They get up and go their separate ways.
JJ hurried to the room and showered so they could go eat and then come back and watch a movie together as a team before they called an early night.

BG calls and tells her that he will see her tomorrow that he is on his way and that he has one more surprise for her this week. JJ tells him that he has done enough and he told her he would never be able to do enough to make up for lost time.
