Can't Forget

Chapter 7

As they get up to pay, JJ's phone buzzes. She looks at it and answered it and tells Ko that she needs to get back to the house cause she's got to leave. Ko nods and told her okay. BG asks her, "why do you have to leave?"
"Work calls" is the reply he got from JJ.
JJ phone rings and she answers,"can you wait till I get there? It will take me a couple of hours but I understand if she isn't safe. I just don't want her going through it alone. Okay I will see you in a couple of hours. Thanks David."
She turns to them and looks at Ko,"sorry to cut this weekend short but I really do need to get back as soon as I can."
Ko nodded his head and cranked the truck. The silence on the ride back to the farm wasn't uncomfortable, they were all lost in their own thoughts.
As soon as they pulled in JJ jumped out and ran in the house. She went to Ko's room and grabbed her bag and pulled out her jeans without holes and her pink button up shirt and changed clothes. She slipped on her socks and wedge booties. She fixed her makeup and took her hair down out of the braid and it was wavy. She grabs her bag and keys and heads downstairs.
BG and Ko are sitting in the living room, JJ goes to Ko and thanks him for helping her and tells him that maybe one day she will be able to stay the full time. He laughed and told her he loved her and to let him know she made it okay. She promised she would.
She turns and was about to pick up her bag when BG grabbed it and said," I will walk you out. " JJ just nods her head and walks out the door. They get to her truck and BG said," I have figured out how to unblock you on my phone so if you need me all you have to do is let me know. "
JJ looks at him and said," it isn't that easy BG, you have to earn that place back because what happened to me cannot be erased. I understand you didn't get my calls and Amber lied but you still have some responsibility in the matter and I don't have time to go into it now.One of my girls need me and I always promised them I will be there for them and unlike you I keep my promises."
"Dammit JJ I didn't know you called until early this morning and I'm still in the dark 5 years later so when are you gonna let it go and forgive me?" BG said
" I don't really know if I can forgive you BG cause spending 3 days in a damn hospital bed and having to wait 3 damn months before I could start my career well that does something to a person. Not to mention all the nightmares I still have 5 fucking years later and I still wake up calling your damn name because I still can't get through my fucking head that you walked out and didn't give a damn about me just handed me over to your damn buddy on a fucking platter for him to do whatever the hell he wanted to do to me. So no you don't get that right to say call if you need me cause I did call and all I heard was your damn laugh and Amber telling me that you chose her and laughed. So I have one of my girls needing me cause her world has been torn apart just like mine was and I keep my promises so bye."
JJ gets in the truck and hauls ass to her school.

BG turns to look at Kolby and he just shrugs his shoulders and said," want to keep busy? I have found that manual labor helps clear my mind and keeps me occupied while I am waiting for her call. BG just nods his head and they head to the shed to get in the razor and go to work.

JJ turns the radio up and gets lost in her thoughts of what it felt like seeing BG again and knowing that him and Amber are broke up. What does it mean? Can she forgive him? Then her thoughts turn to Oakley and how David said that she was beaten up pretty bad but was refusing to say anything to anyone and had been asking for her. She knew it was going to take all the strength she had to help Oakley get through this and pray the nightmares don't come back. BG's song You Don't Know Her Like I Do comes on and she listens to it, really listens to it for the first time. Tears are rolling down her face as she realizes that the song was written about her, not Amber like she had thought all these years. It is in this moment that she realizes that Ko is right, that they do need to hash things out cause BG needs to know what happened that made her leave.

Meanwhile BG is working side by side with Ko mending a fence and he asks Ko, "what happened to JJ that put her in a hospital for 3 days and couldn't start her career for 3 months?"
Ko looks at him," Bro I love you but I can't tell you, that has to come from JJ. When she's ready she will tell you. I will warn you it isn't pretty and when you hear you will go ballistic. But then again you should."
BG looks at Ko,"what about our code man?"
Ko looks at BG and said," I know you didn't go there. JJ is my sister and I love her and I will always have her back, no matter what time of day or night it is and no matter who I am with."
BG hung his head," I would have been there Ko if I knew, but why are y'all hating on me when I had no idea she called me or Amber?"
Ko said," Cause you blew her off that night and chose Amber when she walked in knowing that you had made plans with JJ and it was a big night for JJ but you forgot about her when Amber come strutting by. So yeah I'm pissed cause if not for that then maybe just maybe JJ wouldn't be broken"
Ko got a text from JJ

JJ : I made it pulling in at school right now. Will let you know how it goes. Love ya Ko.
Ko: okay sounds good. I'm here if you need me. Love ya sis.

Ko turns to BG and said," She made it and said she would let me know how it goes."
