Can't Forget

Chapter 34

BG watches JJ leave for work then he gets on the phone and talks to Ko and finds out if he is still coming to the game, when he told him he was he asked if he would swing by and pick him up at JJ 's. Until then BG decides to write some music and plan a few surprises for JJ.
JJ has been busy all day with sick kids and trying to find parents to come pick them up. She takes a quick lunch but the nerves about tonight's game are getting to her. She has to keep book for the earlier games so she knows BG will come when he gets ready. He told her he was writing some music today. Coach Taylor is supposed to text her when she arrives, they aren't going to talk until after the game.
JJ is at the gym setting up when she gets a text that tells her Ko is gonna pick up BG that way they only have one truck at the school. She keeps the scorebook for the JV girls and then she uses the JV boys game to get her game face on. She knows Coach Taylor has arrived and so has Ko and BG. She goes in lays out the game plan for her girls and tells them that tonight is no different they are to play with class but be aggressive and for 32 minutes play all out. She leaves them and walks outside. The girls come out to their warm up music and JJ walks to her bench and watches the other team warm up. Oakley comes by and said," Coach Jax we have this if we stick to the game plan, they can be beat. She can't dribble left so we force that every time down the floor cut off the right side and make her go left. JJ smiles and nods and takes Oakley and meets the referee and other coach and captain at half court. They go over the rules and as they were turning to walk off the Coach said,"Gonna be my pleasure bringing you to your knees in more ways than one Coach Jaxon"
JJ turned and faced him and said,"Don't count your chickens before they hatch Coach cause I plan on coming out on top in this game and as for anything else well you can't handle me. It takes a real man and we all know that ain't you." and she holds her fingers together about 3 inches apart.
BG and Ko are in the stands and they see JJ turn on her heel and face the coach again and Ko says," aw hell BG she just put him in his place talking about his penis and that means he said something to her. You can't do anything bro cause you will go to jail."
BG laughs," If JJ needs me she will let me know , besides she has a mouth on her now that she uses on folks besides me. And she can fight, I am just here for support unless she tells me different."
The game is a close one and it battles back and forth, Oakley takes control and continues to force the other teams guard to the left and it causes several turnovers. With less than 5 sec left it is tied up and JJ calls a time out. She draws up the play she wants them to run and she looks at Oakley and says," you take the shot , you can do it, block it all out for the next 5 sec just you and the ball and hearing it go through the net." Oakley nods and they set up the play and Oakley gets the ball and as it leaves her hands the buzzer goes off but she makes the 3 point shot. They win!! JJ is jumping up and down and Oakley runs over to hug her. They shake hands with the team and the coach on the other team tells her," maybe what they say about you is true, you can't get a man cause you have the balls."
JJ laughs and said pointing to BG," You see that man sitting up there with the tattoos and black hat and tshirt? Well coach that is a real man and he's mine just so you know and he ain't afraid to go to jail over me either. Matter of fact he would take pleasure in stomping your ass. But like a true southern woman I don't need him too. So keep your damn mouth shut about me cause next time I will let him loose." She smiles and walks to the locker room. She celebrates with her girls and Coach Taylor is waiting on JJ.
"Well Coach she is amazing and I want her. So can you make introductions to her mom and dad and her for me?" Coach Taylor said.
JJ told her she would and stuck her head back in the locker room and told Oakley to come to her office when she got dressed. She went and got Oakley's parents and introduced them to Coach Taylor. Oakley walked into her office and JJ made the introductions and walked out so they could talk alone. BG and Ko were waiting on her and he hugged her and told her good job. Ko asked if she had to bring the other Coach down a notch. JJ laughed and told him what she said. BG laughed and told her he always had her back.
Coach Taylor came out told JJ she would see her tomorrow at the game. JJ looked at her and said," I don't have tickets to tomorrow's game. It was sold out when I tried."
BG grins and said," I have 4 tickets and I was planning on taking you Ko and Oakley after you told me they were coming to watch her."
JJ grins and tells Coach Taylor," I guess I will be seeing you tomorrow. Now how did your meeting go?"
Coach Taylor said," They are interested and coming for a visit Tuesday since y'all are out next week for Thanksgiving. Any chance you could tag along I know they are going to ask you."
JJ smiled," I could be persuaded to come to Athens on Tuesday seeing I will be in Mayesville tomorrow through next Saturday."
Coach Taylor congratulated her on the win and told her she would see her tomorrow.
JJ looked at BG and told him he had some explaining to do. He laughed and told her that he thought they could make a day of it with the game and going to eat and even a movie. She grinned and said I'm in and Ko said I'm in and I think Oakley will be too.
Oakley came up and filled her in on the meeting and her parents thanked her for her help and she told them she would meet them in Athens Tuesday cause she was going home for the holidays. They said goodnight and JJ have BG the keys to her truck and said," take me home cowboy"
