Chapter 22

JJ is on her way home to Momma Becky's house in Jefferson. Brantley is supposed to meet her there. It has been a long two weeks being apart. She has the radio on and she hears them mention Chase Rice rescheduled a couple of shows due to he had gotten in a fight with an unknown person and had bruised ribs and a broken nose. JJ just smiled when she heard that until they said that Brantley Gilbert had been seen sporting a shiner at his shows the past 2 weeks and the dj was wondering if it had to do with Amber Cochran's post a couple weeks back where she had posted a video of Chase and an unknown lady at his show, claiming it was Brantley's new lady. So folks let me hear you chime in on this what do you the people think is going on?
Caller 1: it seems to me if you put 2 and 2 together Chase messed with the wrong man's woman and got his butt kicked. Cause everyone knows you don't want to mess with BG and his woman cause he tells you up front he would beat your butt
Caller 2: We'll I think she's a tramp if she was doing that with Chase and supposed to be BG's woman or if she was with Chase and then left him for BG either way sounds like she's just a two bit whore in my opinion.
  When JJ hears that she is pulling in the driveway to Momma Becky's and she's pissed off cause she recognizes that voice and she gets out of the truck and sees BG coming out of the house and she said," Im done being nice and not saying anything but I am telling you right now if I see that skanky ass bitch this weekend I'm gonna stomp a mud hole in her ass and walk it dry. She was just on the radio and called me a two bit whore, do you get what I'm telling you BG?"
  BG comes up and tells her to calm down, that just pissed her off even more.
"Brantley Keith don't you dare tell me to calm down they are linking Chase rescheduling his shows because of being in a fight to you and your black eye and me since Amber posted that video and said I was your new woman. Now I don't give a damn that they know you stomped his ass for messing with me but she doesn't get to call me a two bit whore and think Im just gonna let it go. I told you that I would deal with her and you can bet your ass it will be sometime this weekend cause Jefferson ain't that big. Now get over here and give me some love cause I haven't seen you in two weeks"
   BG pushes her against the truck and kisses her like there isn't gonna be another day. As he pulls back JJ pulls him back by his beard and he growls," baby I'm holding on by a thread and I know momma wants to see you so please can we settle down and take this up later at my house?"
   JJ grins and said," yes we most certainly can cowboy, now take me to see momma."
    BG takes her hand and leads her in the house, Momma Becky comes out of the kitchen and hugs JJ telling her that it has been too long since she had been home. JJ laughs and said," I agree momma it has but it isn't like you haven't seen me at the farm visiting Ko. "
Momma tells her," not the same as you being in my house with my boys. I can't believe that I will have all 3 of my babies home this weekend. Now come in here and catch me up on your girls and how the season is going."
JJ laughs," My girls are doing good and so far right now we are undefeated. We have the county tournament next week and should win but hey they are girls so you never know what they are gonna be like from day to day, whose mad at someone or who is having a bad day because of something that happened at home. I tell them that for those 32 minutes on the clock to forget everything else and just focus on them and their team and the ball. Let it be an escape, God knows it was for me, I guess that was one reason it was so hard to make the decision to give it up because for those 32 minutes it was me and the ball and the person guarding me. I was able to forget I didn't have parents anymore or that my boyfriend was a jerk and screwing my teammate or that my best friend was killing himself with drugs and alcohol. So I tell them that and hopefully it helps them like it did me."
Momma said,"You are good for them sounds like, they know you are real and genuine. Now tell me why you were yelling when you got out of the truck?"
" Well I'm just tired of Amber running her mouth calling me names and trying to destroy my reputation. She's a teacher so she knows exactly what she is doing putting stuff on social media and calling into the radio station telling them that I am a two bit whore and I was telling BG that I was done taking her crap that I was gonna stomp her probably this weekend cause Jefferson ain't that big." JJ explained.
"Well JJ sometimes you have to do what you have to do and if that means showing her who is boss then so be it." Momma said.
Momma started taking the food up as JJ set the table and called BG and Ko into eat. They say grace and Ko said,"Bonfire tonight at Pott's y'all in or you to old now to hang with us?"
BG looked at JJ and told her it was up to her. She smiled at Ko and said," we will be there, I need to see everyone again cause it's been a while."
