Can't Forget

Chapter 50

BG is taken to the court room where he sits with his momma in the chair right behind him. The DA walks in and nods at BG and his lawyer. The bailiff called court to order and Judge Carter walks in and tells them to be seated. The bailiff read the court docket number and said the State of Georgia vs Brantley Gilbert on the charges of first degree murder of Jace Ryan. The DA stood up and said,"We are asking that you deny bail on the account that Mr. Gilbert is a flight risk. He has both money and ability to disappear."
   Ron said,"Mr Gilbert is not running from this he did not fight when arrested he surrendered and even called in to 911 himself. Are those the actions of a man who is going to run? Mr Gilbert wants his day in court to be able to tell his side of it. He is willing to surrender his passport and wear an ankle monitor if it makes the court feel better."
   "Very well. I feel like those conditions are agreeable now does the state have a bail amount they want to set?" Judge Carter asked.
  "The state is asking 10 million dollars. " the DA replied
Ron started to get up and BG pulled him down and said"agree to it" Ron said,"That is fine with us your honor"
   Judge Carter then said,"Until your trial be sure to give the office your tour schedule and any plans you have to go outside the state. If anything changes just send an email and let them know. As soon as you post bail, you may go to the hospital where I will send the officer who will fit your monitoring bracelet on. My prayers are with Jennifer."
    They posted bail and his mom took him to the hospital where Ko filled him in on what the doctor had told him. The officer was there and put the ankle bracelet on and activated it.
  BG walked into the ICU room and he walked over and pulled the chair right next to the bed and took JJ's hand in his. He brought it to his lips and kissed it before he said, "Baby I am so sorry this happened I let you go alone and I can never forgive myself. I promised you that you were safe and you got hurt. I love you Jennifer Justine. You are my whole world, I am so sorry I didn't there quicker. Please come back to me darlin. I can't live without you. Please God let her come back and know that she is loved so much."
    As he finished that statement, he felt her hand move and he looked up to find her blue eyes staring back at him. She wiped a tear he didn't realize had escaped his eye away and said," you saved me cowboy" and she smiled. BG knew in that moment that it would be rough but come hell or high water they would make it.

   He stood up and told her he was gonna get the nurse. The doctor came in and examined JJ. He told them that she would be able to go home the next day once the drug was completely out of her system. After he left JJ said," Will you please get over here and kiss me proper?"
  BG looked at her and she said," I need to know that you still want me after what happened that this hasn't changed how you feel about me and I can tell it in your kiss if it has."
   BG stood up and sat down on the bed and leaned forward cupping her face in his hand and gently kissed her lips before he asked for entrance with his tongue. JJ deepened the kiss and BG ran his hand to her hair lightly fisting it while his tongue delved through the sweetness of her mouth. When he pulled back and kissed JJ on the forhead, she knew in that moment that they would be okay, yeah she knew that there would be some rough days ahead but he loved her and even knowing that she was raped he still wanted her.

   BG looked at her and said,"does that answer your question? "
JJ said,"yes it does. Now you want to go get the cop so he can take my statement and I only have to go through this one time if you want to stay in here."

  BG said,"I will get him and just try running me off girlfriend. That ain't gonna happen. "

BG got the officer and JJ told him everything that happened to her while she was conscious. BG got passed off at what Jace told her and as soon as the officer left he pulled JJ into his arms and told her he would always want her no matter what and that her fighting kept her alive because he had planned to kill her. She asked what he was facing and he told her they had said first degree murder and that Ron had told him he might have to do time. JJ said,"I am right here with you through it all. I will wait my entire life if I have to."

Ko came in and told them he was headed home and that to call if they needed him and gave BG the keys to JJ's explorer. When Ko left BG pulled JJ into his side and told her to rest he had her. As she was drifting off to sleep she said," I knew you would find me I just had to give you some time.  I love you "

  BG smiled and said,"thank you baby for being a fighter and I love you too"
