Can't Forget

Chapter 51

   Instead of going out to celebrate New Years BG and JJ decided that they would have a quiet night in watching football and movies. She was still recovering and didn't want to face a big crowd. The news had gotten wind of it the day she came home from the hospital and that was on every station. Social media already was trying BG and it was about 50/50 on his fate. JJ had talked to a therapist at the hospital and so had BG. They both knew that there would be some rough times ahead for both of them but were not willing to let Amber and Jace take another minute from them.
   They are watching the Alabama vs Washington game when BG gets a phone call from his lawyer and he tells them that the trial for Amber had been canceled because she had been found unfit to stand trial and was being sent to a prison psychiatric facility. That if she came out of it then she would stand trial for her part in what happened to JJ. He just wanted them to hear it from him before it made the news. BG thanked him and told JJ and she said,"I'm glad she's getting the help she needs and in all honesty I am glad it was me and not some innocent kid that she hurt. All I could think about since I had found out what she was saying and doing was what if a kid walked into her classroom talking about you and me and she lost it. That would have been the tragedy Brantley because someone totally innocent would have gotten hurt."
  BG pulled her close and kissed her head and said,"You amaze me baby with how you think of others and just move on. How can you do that after all that she put you through?"
  "I don't know except my faith in God and in oh and our love. I knew that you were coming for me and I know that God will help get us through the rough days cause I know there will be some. "
  " I promise you now J that I will be with you on those rough days even if it means cancelling shows or interviews and I will hop a plane and be there with you, because I love you Jennifer Justine."
     " I love you too Brantley Keith" and she leans over and kisses him soft and slow and in that moment all was right in their world.

      They brought in the 2017 watching the Ball drop, when it hit 00:00 they kissed and BG went and got their toasting glasses and put Mt Dew in both and he said," To a great 2017, may we be blessed with happiness and good fortune and wedding plans."
  "To health and hopefully state championships and moving home in 5 months and wedding plans to the love of my life and finding each other this past year" replied JJ.
  They kissed again and JJ deepened it before pulling back. BG took her bruised face in his hand and said," I know we both want to darling but we both know we can't until you heal and have your follow-up so let me hold you tonight and you hold me and remember the fact that we are together.  JJ smiled and snuggled into his arms and they lay there talking about wedding plans and she told BG that as soon as the trial was over she would set a date. He told her that he was going to hold her to that promise cause his top goal was to marry her as soon as he could. JJ just snuggled in closer after giving him a kiss and she said," you know my biggest fear wasn't you not finding me. My biggest fear was that like Jace  said that you wouldn't want me after he raped me. I know I didn't have any control over it but I still feared that like he said that would be all you would think about."

"And my biggest fear was that you wouldn't want me because I hadn't protected you again and you would blame me for what they had done to you." BG said.

"Looks like we were both wrong."

"Yeah it does"

  The next day they got up and got ready for church and then planned to go eat with Ko and Momma Becky. When they walked into church JJ felt the looks and then one of the older ladies came up and said," can I hug you JJ cause I understand how you may not want that right now?"
  JJ pulled her into a hug and said,"it sounds crazy. I know but that makes me feel better knowing that people still want to have contact with me."
"We all love you JJ and if you need us for anything don't hesitate to ask, we are family. "
  JJ thanks her and kisses her cheek before sitting down next to Ko in the pew where he takes her hand and gives it a squeeze.
BG is on one side and Ko is on the other and the best place to be is with them and in her home church where she is loved. She knows that whatever comes out of the trial that they can survive it together.
