Can't Forget

Chapter 31

BG unlocks the door to JJ's house and punches in the alarm code she had told him. He takes his bag to her bedroom and sets it down before going back to the living room and turning on the TV to see what was happening in the world of sports. He let it play while he took the stuff he had bought and fixed chili. He knew JJ would need something to eat and he wanted to make up for all the time he had lost with her.
JJ walked in and said," BG?" He came out of the kitchen and asked "Do you want to eat now or later?"
JJ said," I need to change so it will have to be later after the game baby I'm sorry"
BG walked over and pulled her into his arms and said," You don't have to apologize darlin' I just wanted to do something nice and I knew you had a game and wouldn't have time to cook so I did. Now I believe I have a raincheck for a kiss" as he leaned down and touched his lips to hers she deepened the kiss making him pull back. She looked at him and he said," I don't want to get us worked up babygirl cause once I start with you I won't be done for hours."
JJ smiled and said," good to know" BG looked at her and told her," we got to talk about today and you running in the middle of those boys, seriously do you do that often?"
JJ walks to her bedroom and he follows and she said," No, not  often I think I average 1-2 a year with the guys and about 3-4 with the girls. Most of the time I just patch them up."
"Well that makes me feel better, so can we finish our conversation that got interrupted by the fight?" BG said.
JJ smiled as she is changing clothes and answered,"You mean why I don't have a baby of my own?"
"That is exactly what I am talking about, I just assumed that you would have by now."
"Weellllll, you have to date to get engaged and then married and then babies. And I don't date."
BG sat down on her bed and was watching her change and said,"what do you mean you don't date, are the men around here stupid not to ask you out?"
"No they asked I just always say no. Not gonna date one of my kids dads, not gonna be the next conquest besides I have my kids at school and they are my babies."
"So you are telling me that you haven't dated in 5 years? What the hell JJ?"
"That is exactly what I am telling you the couple times I was with someone it was that just a hookup. Kinda hard to date when you are afraid of calling them by the wrong name. So when I ran into you again it was a wake up call that I really needed to move on hence the trying to move on with Chase. I realized then that I could never have you so I needed to quit pining away for you."
"You never did random hookups in college JJ or high school for that matter so why did you start?"
" well they weren't really random I knew the guys but told them I just wanted sex no relationship and they were happy to accommodate."
BG sits and stares at her and she looks at him and said,"what it's okay for a guy to want sex but not a girl that is such a crock of bull you realize that don't you?"
BG laughed," yes it's just strange hearing it from you. You hated when I did that, now are they from here?"
JJ laughed," not telling you that cause you would want to beat their ass and we weren't together I approached them not the other way around."
BG growled and grabbed her hand and pulled her to his lap. "You are killing me all dressed up makes me want to stay right here wit ya and love on you"
JJ kissed him and pulled back," I know but I got to go to work baby so come on."
They take BG's truck and go to the school. As they walk in JJ introduces him to her principal. They make their way to the bleachers with people calling out greetings to her. Oakley is sitting alone and they head to sit with her. She looks up and said," Can we do this Coach? Can we beat this team tonight?"
JJ looks at her," I won't lie tonight and tomorrow night will be tough games, but if we stick to the plan and don't be stupid with our fouls and don't turn the ball over, we can do this. We have to be smart aggressive, never letting up for 32 minutes it's got to be you and the ball, and going all out. So yeah we can do this."
Oakley said," okay I'm going to the locker room to get ready and thanks Coach for having our backs"
  BG just watches and he said," she is so much like you at that age it's scary. You always used the game to get away. I never really understood it until I started doing shows and then it made sense because for that amount of time it's just me and music and the people who come to enjoy it."
JJ smiled but didn't say anything as Jake and Levi walked up and sat down and turned to her. Jake said," thank you for going to bat for us today Coach Jax, I am sorry we put you in that position."
Levi said," I'm sorry I was being disrespectful to you and thank you for what you did with Mr. Hayes, I don't know if anyone else would have done that for me after what I said."
  JJ looked at both of them and said,"you may not want to thank me after you see the workout y'all have to do with Coach Sanders. Thank you Jake for taking up for me and Levi when you respect a woman with your words, well that is a sign of a true man. We all make mistakes and deserve second chances it's up to us to decide what we do with them. I will always have your backs even if that means I am a part of the punishment, cause I want y'all to leave here as productive citizens. Now you have a game to focus on and so do I , so I will see y'all later." She stands up and leans over and kisses BG on the cheek and tells him," time for me to work."
BG starts talking to Levi and Jake and they ask him what Coach Jax was like growing up. He laughs and said," Well she played ball and that was her life, besides hanging out with me and Ko. We had a group I imagine y'all have one too that hung out after football games and on weekends when she wasn't playing we were all together. Back then she was a little less vocal than she is now. I fought most of her battles for her if anyone dared to mess with her. She loved muddin, fishing and hunting. Oakley reminds me a lot of her at that age. She was driven and out to prove to the world she would make it. She didn't care what people thought about her as long as she had her friends and family. Now tell me what she's like now in y'alls opinion."
Jake said," She loves her job and we all know she cares about us, she can kick ass, she's not afraid to get in between us if she has too. Everyone of us know that she would do anything for us and has for some of us. My mom got sick last year and Coach Jax came and gave her IV meds at home. She came when I called because I didn't want to be alone with my mom when she died. Coach Jax kept me from quitting school and checks in on me often to make sure I have what I need. My dad is a drunk and he pretty much checked out when mom got sick. Coach Jax well she has been my parent from that point on, she was the one who stood with me at senior night during football season so I wouldn't have to stand alone. So today when Levi said what he did it was like he was talking about my mom. And I lost it."
Levi said," Im sorry what I said was wrong and I just let my mouth run away with me today not thinking about Jake or the fact that Coach Jax takes care of all of us like that. I guess in all honesty we all think of her as another mom but seeing her with you and that video it was like she is a lady too. So I'm apologize for disrespecting your woman BG."
BG listened and said,"Thanks guys for answering that question. And Levi I get it she is  good looking but honestly she is so beautiful on the inside that is what makes her attractive. But I accept your apology and if I'm being honest it would have been something I would have said at your age just not around her cause she would have popped me in the back of my head. So I would have liked to beat you ass earlier but at the same time I get exactly where you were coming from but don't disrespect her again cause she loves you guys. And Jake one thing I know about her is when she cares about you, she will die for you. So she's yours from now on. Treat her well. Now boys let's watch my girl and her team kick ass."
