Chapter 2

When Deirdre awoke she thought to herself, “Mmm, my bed is so comfy. And I don’t have to go to work for four days. I feel like I’m sleeping on a cloud. Wait, why am I still wearing my clothes, I never do that. This definitely isn’t my pillow or my bed.”

Deirdre jumped up and looked around the room. It was dim. She saw the shades drawn over a large glass door. She pulled them open to let light into the room.

Her jaw dropped. This room was covered in gold. And it didn’t just look like cheap gold paint. No, it looked like the real thing.

The bed she had arisen from was this huge four-poster bed that looked as if it was made out of solid gold. It had a sheer green canopy over it with curtains that pulled all the way around. The sheets were made out of a beautiful silky black material with a gold trim.

She then turned around to look out the glass door she had uncovered. There was a huge marble balcony overlooking an amazing city. Where was she? This was certainly not New York City.

The memories of the previous night came back to her. Her mysterious stalker, running for her life…She had to get out of here. She could have sworn the previous night that this man had popped up out of nowhere…twice. Maybe it had been two men, identical twins. But what would this wealthy psycho or pair of psychos want with her.

Her looks were average at best. She was of above average intelligence, but there were people smarter than her. Whatever this was, she had to get out of here and fast.

Deirdre ran to the large wooden double door with gold handles. As she grabbed the handle she felt searing pain run through her hand. She pulled away and her hand was now red and beginning to blister. She ran to the first door she saw, which she hoped was a bathroom. She lightly touched this handle with the back of her hand and it was cool to the touch.

She opened the door and found herself in a magnificent bathroom. She ran to the sink and turned on the cold water to sooth her burnt hand. As she stood there with her hand in the water she looked around the amazing bathroom. There was a large bathtub with gold fixtures and crystal doors surrounding it. It looked like there were at least three showerheads as well. The floor was a white marble with ornate green inlays. The counter top was deep black granite with flecks of gold in it.

Whoever had kidnapped her must have had billions of dollars. So again, why on Earth would they kidnap her? Next to the sink she now noticed a note on heavy parchment with a vile of lotion sitting on top of it.

“Hello love, I suspect that you will need this salve for your hand. Apply it liberally it should help. Love, Loki.”

She stopped the water and applied the “salve” to her hand and it seemed to help a lot. It cooled the burn and it seemed to make all the blisters disappear almost instantly. Though it seemed weird because when she walked in and started the sink she didn’t think there was anything on that counter. She must be losing her mind.

Deirdre left the bathroom and noticed another door. After checking that the handle was safe, she opened it. It had a long plain hallway with four doors. Behind the first door was a massive library; she would look in there later if she hadn’t escaped. Behind the other three doors were empty rooms each with an unsafe door on the other side of the room.

Deirdre was downtrodden. She went back to the main chamber and looked around more. There were two armoires. She opened up the one on the side of the bed she had woken up on. Inside it were dozens of beautiful dresses, mostly in green, black, and gold. There were a few in blue and purple as well.
