Chapter 41

"Steve, you have to stop. You're driving yourself mad looking for her."

"Nat, if it was Bruce you'd be doing the same thing."

"Yeah, but I'm not searching the world on SHIELD's budget with no leads."

"We do have a lead."

"That weird blip on Jane Foster's tech isn't a lead. We found nothing there."

"Then we'll expand the search radius."

"For how long?"

"Till we find her!" shouted Steve.

"No, you won't, Captain Rogers." Said Agent Nick Fury. He was standing in the doorway, followed by Thor. They filed into the conference room. Steve tried to organize his cluttered maps and notes.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm cutting you off. Three months is where I draw the line at dedicating resources to a hunt with no evidence."

"But what about Loki."

"I've searched for him," said Thor. "Heimdall has searched for him. But he's found a way to block all of Asgard from finding him. That or he's dead. But I doubt it."

"Maybe they're helping him. When the Asgardians arrived they considered Loki their King and Deirdre their Queen. What would stop them from being loyal to Loki?"

"My friends from Asgard would never betray me. My brother is a trickster and in due time we shall find him and we shall lock him up. But for now we continue to do what we do best, wait and protect the Earth."

"Our biggest threat is somewhere on Earth. If they made it to Valhalla and got that baby back who knows what Loki could be capable of."

Nick Fury cut in, "Enough, Captain Rogers. I'm giving you a direct order to stop search. We'll draw Loki out but I'm not wasting resources on a wild goose chase. Do I make myself clear?

"Crystal," said Steve.

"Now, Agent Romanoff, Hill needs to speak with you. Why don't you stop indulging Captain Rogers fantasies and come with me?"

Natasha nodded. "I'll be right there."

Agent Fury nodded back and went to the hall. Natasha whispered to Steve, "We'll find her, don't give up."

Natasha quickly left the room, closing the door behind her.

Steve looked at Thor. "Aren't you the least bit concerned about your brother, Thor."

"Of course I am."

Steve was still sorting through his notes. If SHIELD wouldn't help him he'd do it himself.

"Captain Rogers, you are right."

"What am I right about?"

"We cannot talk here." Thor pointed at the camera. "Come with me. Let us go for a walk."

Steve left his papers and followed Thor. The two walked in silence until they were out of the building and continued to walk further.

"Where are we going"?

"Where nothing and no one can hear us." Thor smashed his hammer into the ground and flung himself into the air. Steve searched the skies for Thor. Suddenly a rope fell from the sky. Steve quickly scaled the rope.

He made it to the top of SHIELD Headquarters. The wind was drowning everything out.

Thor quickly pulled up the rope. The only thing on the roof were a few pipes and a door.
