Chapter 33
Loki looked at his beautiful Deirdre. She didn't know that opening this portal would kill her if they didn't get someone to sacrifice themselves. "We have to do something!" yelled Loki.
Captain America suddenly tackled Loki to the ground and punched him in the face. "Shield has to do something to help her. Not you."
"You don't understand! She'll die if we don't do this carefully!"
Tony Stark pulled Loki away from Captain America and flew him towards the Helicarrier. Loki teleported away from Tony and ran towards the portal. Captain America and Black Widow chased after him.
"Stay back! I need to help her!" yelled Loki. "You can do whatever you want to me after I've saved her. Just let me save her!"
Black Widow came to a sudden halt, but Captain America kept rushing towards Loki. Thor tackled Cap to the ground.
"Go brother!" yelled Thor. "No one is to interfere with him until Deirdre is safe."
"Thor! We can't trust him," said Captain America.
"He won't hurt her."
Several Shield Agents slid down ropes from the Helicarrier. They headed straight for Loki. Thor, still trying to keep Captain America pinned was unsure what to do. Dr. Strange stepped in to block the agents from Loki, Scarlet Witch followed closely behind.
Loki nodded to the two that had helped him fight so fiercely in Ragnarok. If this portal wasn't closed soon the destruction of Ragnarok would spread to Migard.
Loki focused his magic to bring himself to Deirdre's level. He need to break her connection with the portal so they could sacrifice another soul.
"Deirdre, please, I need you to come back to me," he whispered.

"Deirdre, please, I need you to come back to me." There it was again. Loki. She needed to save Asgard. Nothing else mattered anymore. Not what happened to her. Not the family who was just starting to remember her.
She needed to save Asgard. She promised them that. Her body was so warm. She felt tired. She could feel herself slipping away from the magic. But she couldn't.
Something touched her head. What was that? A kiss?
"Don't be afraid, my love. Please, just come back."
"Loki?" she whispered. A pair of strong arms wrapped around her.
"It's me, love."
Deirdre's eyes snapped open. Loki! He was here. Had she succeeded? But where was here. She let out a gasp. She was standing on top of a portal if that made sense. Loki floating above the portal.
"What's going on? How are you here? How did I get here?" Why was she so relieved to see him? He'd spent so much time hurting her and yet for the first time since she was back on Midgard she felt like things made sense.
"Let's get you down. We have to close the portal before the forces of Ragnarok break through."
Loki lifted her in his arms and floated down to the ground. The looming dark grey portal stood behind them, ever open, waiting to spew evil into the air.
Loki put Deirdre down and raised his arms in surrender to the Shield Agents. Thor was fighting Steve Rogers, Natasha was standing to the side. Dr. Strange and Scarlet Witch were holding off a group of Shield Agents. Loki tapped their shoulders and they stood down. Thor proceeded to get off of Steve and stand at attention. Steve stood up, looking a little worse for wear.
