Chapter 8:
The carriage rolled through the gilded world of Asgard. Since this was the first time Deirdre was outside she was getting to see her prison for the first time. The palace was enormous. The sky was so colorful. Deirdre's jaw dropped in awe.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" said Loki. His arm was wrapped around her waist pulling her close to him. She turned her head towards him. He smiled sincerely.
"It's incredible. I've never seen a place like this." Deirdre looked down at her lap. For whatever reason Loki's gaze made her feel like she was being studied. She felt like he could see into her very soul and read her thoughts when he looked into her eyes. She looked back out at her new home.
The grass was so much greener here than it was on Earth. All the colors somehow seemed brighter and more vibrant. They passed a lovely grassy area with great marble pillars and gold statues.
"These, love, are the Plains of Ida. It is the center of Asgard." Deirdre noticed people walking through there, conversing, sitting on the great marble benches. Two men were fighting with a woman cheering them on. Deirdre was quite curious.
"Most Asgardian men love a good fight. I, however, prefer to solve my problems with words and maybe a dash of sorcery. They don't call me Silver Tongue for nothing," said Loki. He then laughed a little, "Eheheh." His laugh was very cute.
The carriage then passed a large golden tower and Deirdre marveled at it. "What's that?" she asked.
"That is the Tower of Solitude. My father built it to house his most trusted advisor."
"Can you tell me about your family? I'm supposed to marry you, but I don't know anything about you. And you seem to already know everything about me."
She looked up at Loki trying to gauge his reaction. He smiled down at her and said, "I'll tell you for a kiss."
Deirdre let out a sigh and nodded. Loki tilted her chin up and kissed her tightly closed lips. He tried to press his tongue into her mouth, but she wouldn't open her lips to him. He moved his hand wrapped around her waist up her torso and tickled her under her arm. She opened her mouth in surprise and tried to pull away.
Deirdre was very ticklish, but Loki placed a hand on the back of her head to keep her in place. His tongue slipped into her open mouth. She let out a small noise from the back of her throat. Even when Loki kissed her before he had never kissed her like this. She wasn't sure what came over her, but she found herself wrapping her arms around his neck.
Her hand stroked his long black hair. She suddenly came to her senses and pulled her arms off him. He released her head from his grip and she tried to avoid his eyes as she pulled away from him. What was she thinking? This man kidnapped her. Why did she allow herself to enjoy that kiss? She hoped he wouldn't say anything about it.
"Mmm, that was nice love. I think that earned you my story. I was the second son of the former King of Asgard, Odin. My elder brother Thor always got all the glory. My elder brother is a demigod. He was born on earth but raised here on Asgard. I came along a few years later. My father always claimed he was raising us as equals, that one day one of us would be king of Asgard. I had several younger siblings as well, but they were never really in contest with my brother and I.
"My brother, Thor, was always the favorite. He's strong and stupid. The people of Asgard worshipped the ground he walked on. Even though I am far superior. Our mother Frigga raised us both as her own, even though she was not our mother. She taught me her magic. Thor learned to fight from our father. In the end Thor was named King. But he fell in love with a mortal. After our mother died he decided to become the 'Protector of Earth.' My father Odin was ill with grief after the death of our mother. He slipped into a deep sleep and I, not being the most liked person on Asgard, took his form.
