Luke is walking over to the counter, when I take this opportunity to text mum. I unlock my phone, almost have a heart attack when I realise Luke is my lockscrean, quickly change it to some emotional scene from a movie or something, then text mum.

‘Hi @ starbucks now charley x’

‘YOUR MESSAGE HAS BEEN SENT’

I lock my phone again and slip it back into my jeans. Luke is waiting for his order, when he turns and shouts, slightly- “Want anyone syrup?” His voice is quite strong and broad, you wouldn’t have thought he was only 16.

“Yeah, cinnamon please” He smiles, knods and turns to go get some. He picks up our ice drinks and starts to walk, casually as always, to reach our table. Our. He sits down and hands me my drink. He takes a slurp of his and then looks up to me.

“Sooo” His eyes wonder to a old couple bickering outside, smiling. “That’ll be us someday” LUCAS ROBERT HEMMINGS I BEG YOUR PARDON. “Hahaha!”

“Hehehe” My laugh is embarrassing, its always been loud and over-powering. He just smirks and breathes in.

“How you been?” I love him.

“Good, really good, you?”

“Yeah, great”

I take a long slurp of my drink. Brain-freeze. I scrunch up my face and I see Luke laughing. “You okay?” I can see he is trying so hard not to laugh but he just cannot help himself. He starts exploding with laughter and then I do too. This continues for about 5 minutes then he stops.

“So, you, um, got anything planned over these next few weeks?” NOPE.

“Nope, I’m never busy” Don’t sound too excited Charley

“Cool” He smiles and takes another slurp of his drink.

I look at the clock at it’s about 6:30.

We talk for the next half hour or so, about our favourite movies, favourites hobbies, school, music and food. He is smiling when he looks at the clock. His eyes widen and he turns to me, drops his shoulders.

“Fancy coming to mine for a movie or something?” He says.

I smile a real big smile.
