Boyfriend

 “Don’t mention it, Luke” She smiles. I just sit there, awkward as ever. We are all enjoying our meal, when there is a knock on the door. I excuse myself to answer it. Luke and Mum are chatting about TV shows, I think. A knock at the door occurs again, and I shout “Who is it?” and a squeaky voice replies “Tammy!” I answer it. Tammy appears at the door, smiling. She is smiling as if she knows something I don’t. I look at her, confused.

“So… Luke Hemmings, from our Maths class, huh?” She asks, smiling. Oh god.

“Yeah… We’re… Um… Dating… I guess” I say, shyly. Tammy steps backwards, and I walk outside. I shut the door, quietly.

“How long?” She asks, excitedly. She is smirking. I awkwardly look at my feet.

“Um a while, a few days?” I say, unsure and I have no idea of what to say.

“O.M.G!” She practically shouts “He’s the one you liked innit?” She asks.

“Yes…”

“Is he as nice personality-wise as he looks, I mean he is so punk, isn’t he-“ Tammy is interrupted by the door opening and Luke stepping out of it. He is smirking and smiles at Tammy. She looks gobsmacked.

“Hey” He says, smiling a cheeky, yet polite, grin. She is still shocked.

“H-H-Hi” She stutters, Luke leans on the door frame while Tammy, a meter away, stand shocked. I am next to the door, about half a metre away from Luke.

“Are you one of Charley’s friends?” Luke asks, and he looks at me.

“Y-Y-Yeah” She replies “You?” Oh god. Tammy has always been about 90% less awkward than me. She always did ask tough questions. I think Luke already knows that Tammy knows he is my boyfriend, but he answers anyway.

“Kind-of” He says “Boyfriend” He sounds so cocky, yet polite at the same time. Tammy looks calm, yet challenged, and my mind starts to ponder if they know each other. I am sure Luke would have told me, anyway.

“Oh, right.” Tammy states. Luke’s arm takes place around my shoulder, as if to prove his point. Tammy keeps her glare, straight into Luke’s ocean blue eyes.
