“£39.95, please?” Gem says, still shocked.
“Here you go!” Luke says, placing two £20 notes in the palm of Gem’s hand, she grasps the money and places it in the till and gets Luke his 5p change.
“Keep the change” Luke says, nicely. He picks up the two bHe picks up the two bags, he is so strong. He smiles. He walks off and he says “Waiting outside babe” God knows how he knew me and Gem knew each other.
“O. M. G” Gem says, when Luke’s out of hearing range “He’s your boy?” Gem says, shocked as ever.
“Yeah, I guess” I respond, slightly shy.
“He is so. Damn. Fine” She is so shocked.
“Ok, Gem, I got to go” I say, as I start to walk towards Luke, who I can see waiting next to the entrance.
“Bye Charley, and congrats on the hot BF!” She shouts back, trying to be gangsta. I wave; she does too, and then meet Luke outside. He sees me and smiles, I do too.
“What’s with the books?” I ask, reminding myself of the two footy books he bought.
“One’s for homework, you have to pick a country’s sport and study its culture of that sport. And the Liverpool ones for Calum, my best mate. His birthday’s next month and he is a huge Liverpool fan” Luke says “The graphic novels are for me and the guys to read at band practice” Guys? Band practice?
“You’re in a band?” I ask, curious as ever.
“Yeah, we’re just starting out, really, hoping to take on the world someday” He smiles “Me, Cal, my other best mates Ashton and Michael” He says.
“What are you called?” I have so many questions.
“5 Seconds Of Summer” He says.
“Cool name, even though its winter” I say, in a joking way. Luke laughs.
“Oh sh you…”
“I love you” I say
“I love you too” He says.
We smile. We smile a real big smile.
