Me and Luke pick out 12 donuts, mostly chocolate, and he buys me a coffee (he gets a diet coke). Luke carries the donuts over, while I take the drinks, over to our booth.

While we are walking past a weird thing happens. A guy, our age, who goes to my school, is sitting in a stall we walk past. He sees Luke and bites his lip, in a revenge way.

“Hey Ozzie!” He shouts. Luke sighs and I can see his fists forming a punch “Surprised you’re not ‘putting a shrimp on the barbie’” He shouts.

Luke is biting his lip. He turns around, I grab his hand and try to pull him away, but he is way too strong for me.

“Luke, baby…” I whisper to him “He’s not worth it, babe” He is breathing. Fast.

“What you even doing here, quiff boy?” He says, taunting. You can tell Luke is getting mad by the way his eyes are glaring into the distance. “And what’s the babe doing with you? She looks terrible” I wanna cry, but I keep my shit together for Luke’s sake.

Luke lets go of my hand. He slips the donuts onto a random booth. He, in one quick motion, steps over to the guy, where he is with with 3 friends. He grabs the guy by the collar, and pins him up to the nearby wall. I shouldn’t admit it, but he looks hot.

“You can say whatever about me” Luke says, with an angry, serious voice “But mention my girlfriend, and I will freaking punch you more times than you shit yourself” Luke’s voice is deep and raspy. There is a vein in his neck, about to burst.

“Ok, dude, I was just messing with you” The guy says, terrified.

Luke has still got him pinned to the wall. The staf haven’t noticed: There too busy with an order that has gone wrong.

“I’m gonna let you off this time, because you look scared as shit” He is breathing heavily. Angry.

“Thanks, mate” The guys says, still pinned to the wall.

“I am not your ‘mate’” He says, stern.

“Ok, Liam” The guy says.

“It’s Luke, but don’t say my name” Luke says, seriously “And don’t ever disrespect my girlfriend” He is so strong.

“Ok, sorry, I’m really sorry” The guy almost wimpers. Luke is biting his lip, thinking.

“You will be” Luke says “And that’s a promise; Not a threat”

Luke lets go of the guy and pushes him to the floor. He fought back.

“Sorry” The guy says.

“Oh shut up” Luke says, almost whispering.

Luke steps backwards. He grabs my hand, gently, then grabs the donuts. There are murmers when we leave, Luke striding fast, almost tugging me along. He doesn’t say a word to me.

I notice him slowing down; I have no idea where we are heading. We finally reach a bench, with no one sitting down, and sit down. Luke lets go of my hand and puts the donuts at his opposite side.

He puts both hands on his head, and starts playing with his hair, while looking door, avoiding my glance.

“That dick wasn’t getting away from that” Luke finally says, after a long 5 minutes of silence. He has broad shoulders and loos so strong, while I sit, about 20 centimetres away from him, as awkward as ever.

“I understand” I say, almost whispering.

“I did it for you, Charley” He says “I’m your bodyguard”
