I sat down, across from Calum, who was sat next to a window. He was twiddling his thumbs. He gave me a fake, small smile when I sat down. I gave one back, and I could always smell the awkwardness. He stopped messing with his thumbs.
“Uh, do you want a coffee?” Calum asked, looking up at me. He had a jacket on, with a plain blue shirt underneath. The skinny jeans were there and he had some Vans on. His hair was tucked into a nice, faded pink beanie, only a quiff sticking out.
“Yeah, sure” I responded. I reached for my wallet-like-purse, but Calum shook his head.
“On me” He smiled “How many sugars?” He asked. He gestured to the coffee stand.
“Uh, one, please” I said. He nodded and turned around. He walked over to join the queue, of about three people.
I looked out of the window. The coffee was quite small, but cosy. Outside there was a person performing with a guitar. He looked about twenty, and was quite cute. He had geeky glasses on, a beanie with his hair in a messy-like show. He had jeans on, with a nice black jumper. I could just about hear him singing one of my favourite songs: Wonderwall.
Calum arrived back with our coffees and placed mine on the table, taking a sip. I left mine and just looked at him. He had messy hair, but it suited him. He took of his jacket, placing it on the back of his chair, meaning this would be a long chat.
“So… What do we need to talk about?” I asked, breaking the silence. He put his coffee down on the table and bit his lip.
“Well…I think you, uh, know” Cal said, awkwardly “You, um, know the, uh… the kiss?” He looked at his feet “It’s a bit obvious, isn’t it?”
“Well…” I thought about it “Yeah, but what do you want to talk about it?” He looked nervous.
“Well” He said “What are we gonna do? Like about it?” He lowered his tone slightly.
“What do you mean” I asked “About it? What about it?” He tensed up.
“You know what.” He raised his tone, and clenched his fist. He sighed, looked outside and looked up at me. “Sorry” He apologized “I have just…Just been thinking, well, uh, a lot…” He trailed off.
“I know” He said “I, um, I guess I didn’t think about you” I sighed.
“It’s okay” He muttered “I guess I just want to talk” He bit his lip, and his neck veins showed “Really I just wanted to, uh, well, talk to you?”
