The Small Room

We walked into a small room with a water fountain at the end. Ashton sat beside me, holding my hand and telling me it would all be okay, that Luke would be okay. Michael didn't really know what to do at all. He was constantly fidgeting, getting up to go get water, and reading all the posters in the small room. I was really spaced out. I hardly noticed when the nurse entered the room

"Hello" she said, in a thick scouse accent "Luke is recovering in the AEC Departement. You can't see him yet, but when you can we will inform you" She said leaving the room. She half jogged half walked back into the room when she realised she forgot to tell us something. "Luke's mother, Elizebeth, is doing okay, you should be able to see her in a few minutes, if you want" She added.

"Thanks" Ashton said for me, as I was still spaced out to realise she had gone. Michael finally sat down, on the other side of me, and put a hand on my shoulder. He rubbed my shoulder and tried to tell me it would be okay. He really did. But no matter what Ash or Mike said I would never believe it was gonna be okay. The only person I wanted telling me it'll be okay was Luke, and that was nearly impossible.

"He will pull through this" Ashton assured me, making me look him in the eye by turning me to face him gently "Okay?" He asked and I didn't answer. He whiped my tear-stained face with his finger, and repeated the question. "Okay?"

"Okay." I replied, and he nodded, leaving my eyes and looking at some poster advertising getting regular flu shots.

Michael hugged me for a long time, and it was nice. His tank top was warm and he did give good cuddles. He didn't let go until the same nurse walked back into the room.

"You can see Liz now, if you want" she said, directing the requested instruction at me. Michael released me and they both looked at me, waiting upon my answer. I just simply nodded, and Ashton held my hand as he lifted me up from the blue and white, wooden chair. Michael walked behind us, his pumps squeaking on the clean hospital floor.

We reached at room, alone, with the nurse opening the door for us. Liz was awake, with only a few tubes in her nose. I assumed she had equal damage as Luke, but obviously Luke had come off worse. Liz faked a smile and took a few breathes when she saw us.

"Hello" Ashton said, he was good at talking "How, uh, are you?" No one really knew what to say.

"Im, um, getting better" Liz responded.

"How did it happen?" Michael asked.

"Um" Liz started tearing up, but bit her lip, to try and not cry "I was driving, Luke was on the phone, not talking loud at all, and I had music playing" Liz took a breath "then this van, which was speeding, tried to pull on front of us, nut we were going fast, the speed limit though, and we slammed straight into it. Luke's seat belt had got caught on his jacket,s o it went a little strange, which is why he has..." Liz started crying, which increased her heart rate. Doctors came in and insisted we left for a while. Which we did.

Then we were back in a little room for what felt like hours.

Until that nurse came back and said:

"You can see Luke now"
