Why?

“Probably something happened” I blurted out and I knew instantly I regretted it.

“What do you think happened?” Luke said, almost instantly. I bit my lip.

“Uh, I dunno” I cut the conversation short, in fear I might  blurt out the truth.

“Oh” Luke said, slightly deflated “Okay” He looked at his feet. He had thrown his beanie off and his mess of hair was everywhere. It was quite weird seeing him, not care about what his hair was styled like. He looked like a jock that had just finished a football match after a shower. He laid back and placed his arms on his chest. His chest was large and broad.

“You know what?” Luke said, although I didn’t answer, as I thought he would add to the conversation, which he did “I used to think Calum would end up with you” Oh shit.

“W-Why?” I stuttered, clearing my throat.

“Well, um, because, like, I dunno, he used to like you, but never said owt, so I just thought like, he had gotten over it” Luke was stuttering too, trying not to offend me. He bit his lip, moved closer to me, and smiled. “How life changes” He said, adding nothing else.

“Where’s Ash?” I asked, as I hadn’t heard him speak. In fact, I hadn’t even heard him breathe.

“Ash!” Luke shouted, taking me by surprise, and making me flinch. He threw a pillow at Ash, hitting him straight in his head.

“What the fuck!” Ash exclaimed “I had earphones in you dick!” Ash threw the pillow back, missing completely, and hit the window. Ash’s voice was stern, but soft at the same time, like he wasn’t really mad, but was just trying to act like he was. He put his earphones back in, not saying another word.

Michael came back in, holding about four blankets, and ten pillows. He could hardly walk, which was slightly funny. He dropped them in the middle of the room, gesturing us to come and get what we wanted. Luke stood up, grabbing a blanket, and three pillows. He placed them at the side of him, in the middle of us.

“Ash!” Michael shouted, acknowledging his earphones. Ashton turned around and looked at Michael. Michael pointed towards the pile, well more like mountain, and Ash stood up.

“Where’s Cal?” Michael said, as Ashton came, picked up a blanket, and a pillow. He jumped back down, but left his earphones out. He turned to face us, mainly Luke, and gave him a questioning look. Ash mustn’t have heard Calum and Luke’s argument. Well more like, Calum’s argument with Luke.

“Uh, he went to the uh, bathroom I think” Luke said, looking at the door.

“Oh” Michael added.

“He kind of snapped at me” Luke added “For no, like, reason” Luke spoke quietly, like it was him that had done something wrong.

“Why?” Ash asked, in a more calm tone now.

“Uh, dunno, really…” Luke trailed on, louder now. He laid back again, hands on his chest, yet again.

Like on cue, Calum walked in.
