I ordered a Big Mac, cheese no salad, with medium fries and Luke orders a Large Big Mac, no cheese salad with large fries. I got a Coke, he got a Fanta. The queue is always long, so Luke is gone 5 minutes. He eventually comes back with a tray, 4 ketchups, two barbeque, two straws, some salt, about a thousand napkins and our food and drink. I am really hungry now. There’s another box on the tray.

“I got us some nuggets to share, my treat” He smiles, he must have caught me looking at the box containing the nuggets. How cute? He passes me my food, two ketchups, a barbeque, a straw and my Coke drink. I smile, say “Thanks” and he shrugs, while smiling. Luke sits down.

“My mum is making you tea, if-if you want?” I ask, nervously. He just nods, I don’t think he was really listening. He unwraps his burger and eats it quickly, he must have been starving. I eat my fries first and then, slowly, eat my burger. Luke is finished within minutes, me, however, takes 5 minutes to eat. Luke finishes off his drink and I do too, and he leaves the nuggets and goes to take the tray away.

He gets back and we start eating the nuggets. Luke has bought the largest box, 25 nuggets. We eat at the same pace, even though I am stuffed. Luke still looks hungry and gobbles down the nuggets. It comes down to us having eaten 12 each, the last nugget.

“I am a true gentleman” Luke says “But this is one battle I shall win” He stares straight into my eyes and I stare back.

“Um, Luke, I truly love you” I say, calmly “But love cannot be decided on the last nugget” That was a good quote. Luke reaches for the nugget and so do I. However, we hit the nugget box too hard and the box flies off the table and the nugget flies onto the floor. Me and Luke turn to the nugget then to each other.
