"And then, he just turned into a butterfly and...and..." Dr. Green choked out between sobs, "floated away." I nodded sympathetically, rubbing his back and all the while shooting begging glances toward the other guys, who were all watching with amused expressions. I loved them, yes, but sometimes, my god, I could really punch them.
What did I know about dealing with a drunk person?!
"It's okay, Dr. Green, it's okay," I cooed. I pulled him into a hug, putting two fingers up at them behind his back.
"No! No it isn't okay! Caterpillars are b*stards! Who cares about metamorphosis?! I loved him!" He pulled back wildly and stood. Everyone backed away a step. He pointed accusingly at each of us.
"I swear, I shall get my revenge! Cameron the Caterpillar is no longer a caterpillar. And I hate him. I hate him!" His whole body twisted dramatically. I was so out of my depth.
He stumbled closer to North, who tried to get away but eventually got pinned to the wall.
"I loved him! And he left me, turned straight into a butterfly, I sh*t you not!" North nodded frantically, trying to push him away. But Dr. Green could be strong when he wanted to be. His eyes threw desperate glances everywhere. They latched onto me, begging for mercy.
I smirked, mouthing 'Karma's a bitch, isn't it?' He scowled before turning back Dr. Green. But Sean's fingers clutched tightly at North's shoulders.
"You'd love me, wouldn't you, North? You wouldn't leave me. I know you love me!" He cried out. North's eyes widened even more, the blood draining away.
"Dr. Green, I don't love you!"
"Don't deny our love any longer! I'm tired of hiding it! I love you, North! Will you marry me?" Everyone was choked up with laughter, bent over and grinning wildly.
"Doc, you aren't thinking straight, you're drunk."
"No! No, I'm not thinking straight at all. I'm thinking gay, North, and gay's not straight. Because I love you, and you love me, and we should be together for all eternity!" He smiled a dumb, crooked smile. "Hey! Look, that rhymed!"
"Uhhh..." Dr. Green lifted a hand and slapped him halfheartedly.
"You're a b*stard, just like the rest. You're like Cameron. So go ahead, caterpillar, fly away on your butter-f*cking-fly wings!" North rushed back out of his grip, and everyone tried to move out of his range, not wanting to be the next victim.
"Owen..." He mumbled, eyes closed, "Owen I need to...to lie down, I think."
"Okay, Sean, okay." Mr. Blackbourne tentatively wrapped an arm around his shoulders to support him, while directing him to the chair. But Sean had other plans. He spun round, his arms wrapped around Mr. Blackbourne's neck and kissed him. We all froze. Dr. Green tried to keep on kissing him but Mr. Blackbourne pushed him away stiffly.
"What...Did...Sh*t." Mr. Blackbourne said.
I think we all agreed in that moment. It was going to be a loooooong night.
