~Sang~

The Doctor tilted his head to the side and put his hands in his pockets.

"You live here?" He asked, examining my house. I felt myself blush slightly. It was still bland on the outside, lacking love.

"Isn't it supposed to have...gnomes, or something outside of it? I feel like it should have gnomes outside. The Santa Claus type, not those creepy hairless ones, they look like Gremlins. Don't you think?"

I nodded dumbly, leading him down the road. An idea occurred.

"Do you mind if I invite some friends over?"

"Are they annoying?"

"...What's your definition of annoying?"

He sighed and shook his head like he was disappointed.

"Kids these days, you all pick the wrong friends. I thought you would know better, dear Sang."

I rolled my eyes and sent a quick text to the guys to come to myself to meet my new friend.

"Why would I know better?"

"I mean, you've made friends with me, and let's be honest; I'm pretty amazing. You should have picked people more like me."

"Hey. My friends are fantastic."

He raised an eyebrow skeptically and walked ahead of me in long, fast strides. I jogged to catch up with him. We continued like that, a couple of houses away from mine until he stopped and grinned.

The Doctor rushed over to a neighbor's yard and picked up a gnome from their garden.

"Sang! I got you a present!"

"You stole me a gnome," I said, but smiling.

"And what a pretty gnome it is. You should be grateful."

"Oh, I am, but shouldn't we put it back?"

He waved a hand airily and continued forward, gnome in hand.

"Meh. I've probably saved their lives at some point. They owe me."

I was puzzled. "How did you save their lives?"

"Oh, that. Aliens."

"Aliens?"

"Aliens. Extra-terrestrials. Martians. Invaders. Whatever you want to call them."

"...Seriously?"

"Yup. There are these really creepy ones, Weeping Angels. Just, ugh," he said and shuddered. There was a slightly haunted look in his eyes that made me want to comfort him.

"That must be fun."

"Yeah. Fun," he spat out harshly, but corrected himself and smiled softly, "it is, a lot of the time. You've never seen beauty until you've looked upon space, all those stars, all those places yet to be discovered."

"Space. I always thought of it as if it was like infinity made into a place."

He smiled at me, pleased. "Exactly." Then the Doctor paused and looked at me. "You're taking this a lot better than most."

I shrugged. "Stranger things have happened. And do, with alarming regularity."

"You don't think I'm insane?"

"Everyone's a little insane. That's what makes it fun."

I noticed we were at my front door. The Doctor placed the gnome down fondly as I unlocked the door.

I gestured grandly. "Welcome to my humble abode," I said, with a little courtesy. He grinned at me.

It struck me; I'd feel terrible if this man were to leave me now. How had he made his way into my, dare I say it, heart so quickly?

He tucked his arm with mine.

"Let's go, m'lady. I'm in the mood for some fish fingers and custard."
