~Sang~
She's sitting at the table, the hours get later,
He was supposed to be here,
She's sure he would have called.
I tapped my fingers against the kitchen table, frowning. It was much later than the guys were supposed to be back by now, and I was starting to worry. I was biting my lip, I realized, and hastily stopped. Nathan despised it when I did stuff like that.
She waits a little longer, there's no one in the driveway,
No one's said they've seen him,
Why, is something wrong?
My mind rolled through the possibilities and my anxiety increased. I sent a quick text to the boys families, and they all said they hadn't heard anything. Eyeing the window, I gave up all my attempts not to bite my lip, seeking relief in my little habit.
She looks back to the window,
Suddenly the phone rings,
A voice says something's happened,
That she should come right now.
My mobile buzzed and I turned it on quickly, smiling when I saw that it was Sean.
"Hi," I said, "you guys okay?"
"Pookie...Pookie, Luke's been shot." My heart froze. The world lost color. It took all my strength not to drop the phone.
"What?" I choked out, "he's going to be fine, right? It's not serious?"
"Sang, love...Luke's wound is fatal. He's," I could hear Sean's pain, "he's going to die." A shudder rolls through my body. No. It isn't right. No. No, no, no, no, NO!
"Pookie, you're going to have to come to the hospital...To...To...say goodbye."
I nod, and realize he isn't able to see me, "of course. Yes. I'll be down as soon as I can." I shut the phone off before he can say anything.
Her mind goes to December,
She thinks of when he asked her,
He bent down on his knees first,
And he said,
'I want you forever, forever and always
Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together
Forever and always.'
My mind went back, back to the Winter, only a few months ago as I got in the car, starting it up and driving in the direction of the hospital. Luke, his blonde hair falling in his face, the last of all the guys to propose. His nervous eyes, his shaky smile. And then finally, both of us in the snow, him asking me on one knee.
"S-Sang," He'd said, it was adorable; I'd never heard him stutter, "I love you so, so much. More than anything than I ever have. You're beautiful, amazing, wonderful, for lack of a better word you've enraptured me." I'd smiled so much.
"So, my fantastic girl," His voice had been strong then, sure and confident as he'd taken out the black box, opening it to reveal a silver 2-part interlocking ring with a light blue stone in the center, "will you be mine Forever?" I knew exactly what to say, our nicknames together.
