"Are we there yet?" I asked.
"No."
"Are we there now?"
"Yes."
"Really?!"
"No."
I huffed and crossed my arms. We were driving down a long, winding country road lined with trees reaching proudly toward the sky. It would, actually, be rather inspiring if it weren't for the fact I was bored out of my mind. One country road was much like another.
"Okay, Princess! We're here!" Victor announced. I squealed as we came to a halt.
Then I looked where we parked.
"It's another country road," I said in monotone. Victor grinned at me excitedly.
"But it's a special country road!"
"How?"
"It's magic."
"How is it magic?"
"In a magic-y way."
"It's not magic is it?"
"No." I gave a sigh.
"Then why have we stopped here."
"Because," he explained, "I read the stars and they told me it was my fate to park here."
"...It's midday, in what way could you read the stars?"
"Well, it wasn't really the fates, to be exact. It was the sat nav. But they're similar."
"No, they really aren't, Victor." He chopped my head, opening the door and rushing around to open mine. He smiled charmingly and held out his hand to help me up.
I ignored it. Sure, I was being childish. I should have been happy that he'd taken me out.
But it was a bit anticlimactic, really. We'd driven for hours, and we stopped at a road, similar to all roads we'd passed.
He offered his elbow then and I took it, putting my hand in the crook of his arm.
"Come along, my dear, we have much to see," he said, a big cheesy grin on his face.
