~Sang~
I was building a tower of salt and pepper shakers, waiting for Kota. He said we'd go out for lunch because he felt like getting out of the house for a while when it wasn't an Academy mission.
The cafe was nice, and Kota said their coffee cake defeated all others around. It was decorated fully in warm tones, honey-colored wooden tables and homely pictures on the walls. When I asked him where he found it, he admitted with embarrassment that his mother forced him here once.
North had dropped me off, since Kota had something last-minute to attend to and I should just wait for him because he'd only be a few minutes.
The door made the little ping from the bell above the door as a guy walked in.
I looked at him properly, and my heart froze. Ryan Williamson, the guy I'd been 'dating' for a few weeks. He was nice, and we'd met at one of Silas's games. I'd spoken to him, and soon after a week or so he asked me out.
I'd felt bad, considering that I accepted only to try and get a reaction from the boys. I liked them. All of them. But none ever tried to be that way with me. I guess I wanted to test whether they did or not. Apparently it was a no- they'd acted normal, if a little distant, with me.
Now, I didn't feel bad at all. I felt angry.
Ryan walked in, with Jade hanging off his arm, in all her skimpy-clothed-glory. Biting my lip, I pulled myself further into the booth so I could see what they'd do.
A waitress came up to their table and they ordered. Ryan said something and Jade laughed, touching his arm. Apparently that was all the consent he needed, because in a matter of seconds they were making out. They were getting some distasteful looks off of people, and my heart cracked slightly.
Was I that undesirable, that he'd cheat on me? Tears threatened to spill, but I stood and barged over to them. Ryan stopped sucking Jade's face for a second to look at me.
"Sang?!" he asked, shocked. I crossed my arms.
"The very same." He stood, holding his hands out.
"I didn't mean it. I really didn't. I love you. She kissed me. I didn't mean it," Ryan blurted out all at once. Jade stood up and held onto Ryan's arm.
"Ugh, I don't know why you're trying to explain," she said in her sickly sweet voice, resting her head on him, "we're together now, skank, get lost." My mouth popped open in an 'o'.
"Oh, I'm the skank?" She went to reply but the door opened again and Kota came in. He froze, assessing the scene. And idea came. A ridiculous idea. But an idea all the same.
When he walked up, I laced my hand with his.
"It doesn't matter," I said with indifference, "I've had someone too." Ryan raised an eyebrow skeptically.
"Sang, you don't have to lie-" He started but I cut in.
"I'm not. Kota and I have been together for a few weeks now. Haven't we...Sweetie?" I tried. Kota turned to me and saw the pleading in my eyes.
"Yes. For a few weeks now...Darling."
Jade snorted. "Prove it." I leaned up and kissed his cheek.
"I could do that," Ryan said, apparently giving up the attempts of hiding his cheating.
"Please don't," Kota interjected.
"Still," I said, "we love each other."
"You do?" Kota asked. I discretely stepped on his foot.
"I do."
"We do." He said, as if stating a smart fact.
"Prove it. Properly. Kiss him. On the lips." My cheeks flushed red. Yeah, sure, this is sort of what I wanted, but I didn't want to happen with Jade goading me. I had to though, to keep my pride. I was not going to admit that I was lying and we weren't together.
Before Kota could protest, I grabbed his shirt and pulled him down to kiss me. He froze against my lips, but gradually warmed, his hand coming to the small of my back and the other to my cheek, keeping me there. My hands slid up into his hair.
This was way too easy for me to do without feeling uncomfortable.
His lips moved on mine, before I remembered where we were and pulled back.
Jade and Ryan were staring at us with open mouths.
I gave them a smug smirk.
Jade huffed and grabbed Ryan's arm, dragging him out the door. I turned awkwardly to Kota.
"I'm," we both said at the time, and gave stiff laughter.
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom," I said running into the ladies room. I rested my back on the door and touched my ever-so-slightly swollen lips.
"Wow," I whispered.
Kota himself sat at the nearest table, resting his head on his hands, his mind running through what kissing Sang felt like.
"Wow," he whispered.
