~Cameron the Caterpillar~
Cameron was empty. He felt empty, lost, dark. He felt like he'd lost his hope, his light, his direction.
"Ugh, can you stop being so brooding," Beatrix the Butterfly hissed. Sighing, he turned around toward his wife.
She was beautiful, her thin body as black as the night, her wings wide and elegant, decorated in swirling deep reds and blacks. Her eyes were wide, but you could see the shallowness in them, the indifference.
"If I'm boring you why don't you go talk to Uncle Gary?!" He spat at her, his own midnight blue wings spreading out ominously. She sneered.
"Maybe I will." Cameron the Caterpillar was no longer a caterpillar, but one of the most wonderful butterflies in existence, but he kept his name as a reminder, a reminder of Sean.
Beatrix was nothing, she was a pretty face that he'd pretended to be in love with to try and stop the cracks in his heart.
Cracks that would never heal. He had changed, evolved, metamorphosis had taken place. He had changed too much to be Sean's caterpillar.
He lowered his head in defeat, but lifted it to glare at Beatrix.
"I'm going out."
"D'you think I care? I'm going to Gary's. Call the babysitter." He narrowed his eyes at her, but didn't say anything. She was already packing her over-night bag with vehemence. It stung, made him feel unwanted, but he could face it. That was nothing compared to his inner battle.
He turned his back, stepping onto the balcony and taking off into the sky. He needed to clear his head.
